According to Fibit report, there is large number of pre order volume for Alta and Blaze exceeded internal forecast. Fibit Blaze and Fibit alta are new products which were introduced in 2016. Blaze was already ranked 2nd in Feb in Amazon's best selling smart watches over $100. It is success due to the company spent more nearly three times money in research and development new products. Money are compared between $54,167 in 2014 and $ 150,035 in 2015. Untold a lot of money are spent for operating expense in year, perhaps millions if we call each new products.

The reason Fibit must to invest this much in new products is that Fibit want to maintain and gain number of customer engagement and retention with company. 
There are a lot of competitors like Apple and Samsung who own very good products.

For example: Apple watches are similar to Fibit Blaze. Apple watches have many better functions and good design than Fibit Blaze. However the apple watches lost market share into Fibit Blaze because Apple didn't stepping into the fitness tracker category that is dominated by Fibit. This gives Fibit a great advantage for the expansion of existing market share at the expense of Apple and other smart watch competitors. 
Imagine, if apple change the function on apple watches y adding more fitness tracker, how is affect to Fibit Blaze? Obviously, Fibit Blaze will lose in this battle because Fibit Blaze are not good at about design and function like apple watches.
