John 1:11-13

WHAT: John is describing Jesus. His own people did not receive him, but those who did got the love of God. Those who believed in his name became children of God regardless of anything about them.

LIFE APPLICATION: This applies to my life because sometimes your own family can make you upset, just like God's children forsake Jesus. God will love those who stick by Jesus through everything. SUMMARY: Jesus was speaking to others who came to him. He did not approve because they rejected him when he came in his father's name. They have no honor and respect for God.

SUMMARY: Jesus and his disciples all went to Galilee. They attracted a lot of people because of all the miracles Jesus was performing, so the hill was extremely crowded. Jesus then tested Philip about food and bread.

LIFE APPLICATION: Even though Philip failed the test from Jesus, he still holds an example. I should not be so stressed and worried as Philip was. SUMMARY: Andrew spoke up for Philip and said a young boy only had two fish and five loaves of bread. Jesus then told everyone to sit down, and he blessed the fish and bread. Somehow that fed all the huge amount of people and everyone was satisfied.

LIFE APPLICATION: I do not know how to apply this story to my life but I will say that it is interesting. The bible does not say how Jesus performed the miracle, it just happened. SUMMARY: After this whole event, the group was going to leave. The disciples waited by the boat for a while, but when Jesus didn't come they just left him. Jesus didn't get mad though. He just walked on water to them and they were amazed.

LIFE APPLICATION: Jesus told the disciples to not be afraid. They listened to him and were amazed by him. SUMMARY: Jesus started gaining a lot of popularity. People would travel around just to find out where he was. Even as Jesus was gaining fame, he still took the time to explain his father's message to all.

SUMMARY: The people asked Jesus what they could do for God. Jesus simply answered to believe in the once he sent, but the crowd wants miracles performed. Jesus explained to them that it was God who gave the people bread, not Moses.

LIFE APPLICATION: I have to remember the source for things I receive. Just as Jesus explained to the people, there is a true will for everyone. SUMMARY: People started questioning Jesus because they knew his father and mother. Jesus tells them to not think about that, and only think of what the Scriptures say. He tells them that anyone who believes in him will have eternal life.

LIFE APPLICATION: This applies to my life because sometimes I can doubt things like the crowd. I can be negative on my outlook of situations. SUMMARY: The people were (yet again) very confused by what Jesus was saying. They started arguing among themselves. Jesus helped them understand by telling them that his flesh and blood is the way to have eternal life.
