While both platforms involve managing information, Pinterest focuses on visual organisation and social discovery, while Pocket centres more around text-based organisation and personal consumption. Pinterest mainly organises information visually through images and videos pinned to boards which you can create yourself. People can create multiple boards and categorize them based on their interests or topics. It’s centred around exploring content shared by others and finding new ideas based on your interests. It’s a very easily accessible and visually pleasing app.

Pocket, unlike Pinterest, I found focuses on organising text-based content such as articles, blog posts, and web pages. Users can save articles to their Pocket account for later reading or reference. Pocket offers features for personal organisation, such as tagging, favoriting, and archiving saved articles. Users can categorize and annotate their saved content to facilitate retrieval and management.

Pocket is more oriented toward individual consumption rather than social sharing, which is, as we said previously, is a huge part of how Pinterest operates. People can save content primarily for their personal use, although there are options for sharing content externally if desired.

Overall, Pocket is for organising and storing articles and other text-based content for offline reading, Pinterest is for finding and sharing aesthetically pleasing content. I believe pocket would be useful for academic purposes as well as just using it for leisure, however Pinterest is mostly only for leisure.
