<title># 5. Progressive Education Association showed a major jump to explore the most effective way to educate, and to resurface the question of what it means to educate. Every institution, especially one such as education which is a major aspect to all citizen’s lives, should have such “check-points” in its development to see if it is working as effectively as it should. Although it took on different paths, the innovations of progressive education such as nonlecture methods of instruction and focus on what will help a child learn is key to education in my opinion. If educators aren’t aware of ways to effectively teach children, if those children’s needs aren’t being met at home or at school, or if that child isn’t exploring their own place and future in the world, then the point of education is lost.</title>

<title># 4.	The Public High School is 4th on this list because while it is important, it is not as important as early education due to the sensitive developmental time of childhood. Although adolescence is a significant developmental period, a high school level of education could be achieved at a later point in life if necessary, or not at all for certain careers. The same could not be said for fundamental educational tools such as learning to read and to communicate in society, which are more time sensitive in early life. That being said, access to public high school is a highly important part of a healthy democratic society because it teaches basic education all adults should have, technical or vocational skills, and prepares for college if a student pursues that route. </title>

<title># 3.	Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka is third because without #1 and 2, there would be nothing significant for be gained by the equal right to education granted in this case. This case defined educational opportunity in terms of the effects of schooling, rather than the resources such as teachers, facilities, and materials (page 327), which has had great influence on American education because this put the responsibility of child achievements on the school and gave the right to equal education for all.</title>

<title># 2.	Kindergarten is more than pleasant activities, but an imperative learning foundation. Early childhood education has been proven to increase success in multiple aspects of education and life. Studies have shown that attending kindergarten can directly affect a student’s success in “common school”. Public access to kindergarten is therefore second only in importance to the public common school.</title>

<title>#1.	The Common School supports the idea that universal education should be free, at public expense and control, for all who can’t afford or don&#39;t want private schooling. Education is a necessary tool for all people and is foundation of a democratic nation, and it is arguably a natural right. This concept is the foundation for all further public schooling successes, including #2-5 below, which is why I have ranked it as #1. </title>
