Working with older high school kids, some of these would be tough. I do like using some form of a cheer or positive reinforcement to celebrate a grumpy student smiling after a correct answer or getting someone to be more involved.

When working in small groups I would use these to help applaud risk taking and thinking for all students and i think it would carry over into their groups and encourage peer cheering

My students love to cheer for each other. I have a ring full of them and whenever I notice someone who was kind, helpful, encouraging then we do a classroom cheer for the behavior. I also do this to recognize when students bring back papers, make a good grade, or work hard and don't give up. It helps students to know they are seen and valued by you and their classmates.

I love doing "three snaps" instead of clapping for students just because it's different and it keeps more control in the room. Anytime there is success in the classroom is a great time to use a cheer. Especially good for success on test or even the little things that you may have been working on, like getting to class with supplies.

I think doing the disco cheer when students are participating in a lesson would be fun! Students like to laugh and this cheer would definitely invoke some laughter which would lead to more participation I think.

We already do a few class cheers in my classroom. It is good to have some new ideas to use this year. The students can also choose or vote on their favorite cheer to do each day. I think I would also put them on posters on the wall or SMART board, so we can enjoy them better! Thanks, great motivation!

I use classroom cheers often. I did see a couple of new ones I haven't tried before. I think the mirror will be fun to use when acknowledging students successes.

I bought a Cheer detergent bottle and and cut the top off and put classroom cheers in it. when we want to celebrate a students achievement we pull a Cheer!

I use classroom cheers all day everyday for everything imaginable. But, the kids really love it when they get to choose their own cheer for a job well done.

This is a great way to finish up a class activity. All students can stand up and do the movement together. This shows appreciation for their good work and gets them out of their seat for a bit.

When all the students have completed an assignment, I could have them flex their muscles and say, "We got the power!" and turn to one person and tell them, "Great job!" Cheers could also be used during morning meeting to set a positive tone for the day right before transitions.
