LOSS OF NERVE CELLS -Nerve cells in brain produces a chemical called dopamine.Dopamine acts as a messenger between the parts of the brain and nervous system that help control and co-ordinate body movements.If these nerve cells die or become damaged, the amount of dopamine in the brain is reduced. The loss of nerve cells is a slow process. The symptoms of Parkinson's disease usually only start to develop when around 80% of the nerve cells in the substantia nigra have been lost.

GENETICS-Parkinson's disease can run in families as a result of faulty genes being passed to a child by their parents. But it's rare for the disease to be inherited this way.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS-  Pesticides and herbicides used in farming and traffic or industrial pollution may contribute to the condition.But the evidence linking environmental factors to Parkinson's disease is inconclusive.

 STAGE 1-This is the initial stage characterized by mild symptoms such as rigidity, tremors, or slowness of movement in the leg or arm on one side of the body.

STAGE 2- Symptoms start to worsen at this stage with tremor, rigidity, and other movements affecting both sides of the body and the body axis. Problems with walking and poor posture are noticeable. Daily activities become more difficult, but the person is still able to live independently.

STAGE 3- This is the mid-stage of the disease characterized by loss of balance and slowness of movement. Falls become more common during this stage.

STAGE 4-In this stage, symptoms are severe and very limiting.

STAGE 5-This is the most advanced and debilitating stage of the disease. Patients have great difficulty walking or standing. The person starts having hallucinations and delusions.
