The poem 'No More Boomerang' by Oodgeroo Noonucal depicts the tragic experience and aftermath suffered by the indigenous Australians from the white’s colonisation in Australia, where they are forced to give up their culture, dehumanised by the white people and even more. Although Noonucal mentions the disheartening treatments the aboriginal people faced during the process of colonisation, she mainly expressed her nostalgia of her culture practices, life before the colonisation as well as her disagreement with the modern culture and the the heartless behaviour of modern society.

The poem contrasts the life of indigenous Australians pre colonisation and their cultural traditions which are lost or changed after colonisation. Focus throughout the poem is targeted heavily on the loss of culture and traditional practices, less regarding the cruel practices of colonisation.

In the poem No More Boomerang, Oodgeroo Noonuccal focuses on the aftereffects of colonization rather than the immediate proceedings. These are experienced through the changes of lifestyle proving information of the old ways and the contradiction to the new. Moreover, the traumas of colonization are less explored, rather focusing toward a modern world's presentation of the ingrained prejudice and change due to the establishment of a white Australia.
