The students enjoy learning about different countries, and their customs. We read and write about different Christmas Traditions each year, but this year I could have the students choose a country and do a report on it. The geography, natural resources, the government and the culture of that community.

It would be fun for students to choose a community from around the word that they (or a family member or friend) has a link to. This could be fabulous for those who may be recent immigrants.
They could present it digitally, orally, with the arts or as an essay.
They would need to have previous background on the format of compare and contrast. They would need to be vary familiar with their own city/town and it's government, size, culture, changes, natural resources (Strand 1)

I love that our students are getting a chance to compare and contrast their community to another community in another country around the World. I don't think that kids today realize how really lucky they are to have everything they have and that they are able to come to school and learn like they do. It is great that they get to see how it could be if they lived somewhere else in the world.
