The Soviet Union remained a one party

communist nation through out its entire

history. It was important to make the

appearance of democracy. Went to great

lengths to organize its elections and

wanted everyone to vote. This shows that

they wanted everyone to have there rights to

vote.

Achievements

In October of 1957, a Soviet satellite

called, Sputnik, was launched into space.

The Russians were extremely proud of

their science and hard work to have had the

ability to fulfill this Earthly accomplishment.

Russia also was proud of two athletes that

received gold medals for their contribution

in weight lifting and gymnastics in the 1972

Summer Olympics. They were considered

Russian and international superstars.

The Soviet Union spent 165 billion dollars on their military 11% of the Gross National Product which is the total value of goods and services produced in a country in one year.This was spent on Ballistic Missile Launchers and Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles and Megaton-age of nuclear arsenal. They bought tons more of missiles and nukes than many other countries this shows that the Soviet Union is very strong militarily and is ready for battle.

Education

The Soviet Union made substantial

educational advances with the

literacy rate between 1915 and

1980. There was a 74% increase

and do to the revolution everyone was

fighting for a better society. Soldiers were

even teaching other soldiers how to

read in the trenches. Citizens would

learn and fight for a better life.
