This medication is not meant to be a substitute for the flu vaccine. Report to your provider immediately if you experience major behavioral changes such as hallucinations.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Patient Teaching:</strong><br>Instruct patient to take the medication as directed and to finish the drug completely, even if they are feeling better. Instruct to not take with food or anti-acids, it may cause dizziness or drowsiness call for help with ambulating. Advise patient to be precautious when sitting directly in the sun for long periods of time. Advise the patient to report symptoms of angina and jaundice. Report any diarrhea, so we can further assist the situation. <br><br><strong>Nursing Considerations:</strong><br>Administer 1 hour before or 2 hours after with meals. Intermittent infusion is incompatible with Amiodarone. IV administration reconstituting each 500 ML vile with 4.8 mL sterile water for injection to achieve a concentration of 100mg per mL. Asses for rash, pruritus, laryngeal edema, and wheezing.<br><br><strong>Side effects:<br>Torsade's (atria and ventricles are not communication heart is lost)<br>Stevens Johnson Syndrome<br>Hepatotoxicity (toxic levels to liver)<br></strong><br><br></div>]]></description>

(first dose may be given before receiving results.)<br>&gt; Assess infection and vital signs before and after therapy.<br>&gt; Monitor patient after giving medication for any allergy. <br>&gt; Monitor intake, output and daily weight. (specially for patients on sodium restriction). <br>&gt; Assess for rash during therapy.</em><br><strong>Patient Teaching:</strong><br><em>&gt; Do not skip any doses. <br>&gt; Avoid alcohol. <br>&gt; notify HCP if rash occurs. <br>&gt; Advice patient to inform HCP if no improvement within a few day or symptoms of super infection (black furry overgrowth on tongue, fowl smelling stool, Vaginal irritation.)<br><br></em><strong><em>-----Vancomycin-----</em></strong><em><br></em><strong>Implications: </strong><em><br>&gt; Assess patient for infection.<br>Obtain specimen for culture sensitivity. (first dose may be given before receiving results). <br>&gt;Monitor IV site closely (Irritating tube tissue and causes necrosis and severe pain aka tissue death, rotate infusion site). <br>&gt; Monitor intake, output ratios, and daily weight. (cloudy or pink urine may be a sign of nephrotoxicity).<br>&gt; Observe patient with sign and symptoms of anaphylaxis/ allergy. --&gt; discontinue drug and notify HCP immediately if this does occur. <br>&gt; labs of albumin, cells in urine, CBC, and renal function. periodically during therapy. <br>&gt;Evaluate toxicity and overdose through trough concentrations. <br></em><strong>Patient Teaching:</strong><em><br>&gt; Take as directed, do not double dose if missed.&nbsp;<br>&gt; Instruct patient to report any ringing in ear, vertigo or hearing loss.&nbsp;<br>&gt; Advice patient to contact HCP if no improvement is seen in a few days.</em></div>]]></description>
