QUALI SONO LE ORIGINI DELLA BEFANA?

La tradizione folcloristica è stata celebrata in Italia in una forma o nell'altra per secoli, forse derivante da antichi rituali pagani o discendente dalla dea sabina / romana chiamata Strenia.

La Befana è più associata a Roma e all'Italia centrale, ma l'usanza si è diffusa nel resto del paese durante il XX secolo. Nella capitale italiana di solito c'è un mercatino di Natale della Befana a Piazza Navona, tuttavia non si è tenuto quest'anno a causa della crisi del covid-19.

LA BEFANA 2021

Come festa nazionale e giorno santo, gli uffici pubblici saranno chiusi in tutta Italia il 6 gennaio 2021, con la riapertura della maggior parte delle scuole il giorno successivo. La Befana segna anche l'ultimo giorno della "zona rossa" durante le restrizioni di blocco dell'Italia.
