         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Jung Typology Test (4 letters)&nbsp;<br>~ I'm ENFJ<br>~Neo Freudian (disagreed w/ Freud on sex)<br>~ Theory has two unconscious: Personal (no man's land) and Collective (influential)<br>~ Outer self is Ego, inner self is Shadow (Anima-Animus; we all have both A words &lt;)<br>~ not truly reliable or accurate...<br>- Freud (1856-1939)<br>~ Psyche (mind) + Dynamic (NRG) = Personality<br>~ Psychoanalytic Theory/ Psychodynamic Theory<br>~ Unconscious, only studied men, sexist, sex drive = libido and aggression, detailed dream analysis, blamed mom for most problems.<br>Id: present at birth, all unconscious, pleasure seeking to satisfy needs, wish fulfillment (dreams), in reality you shouldn't give in to this but we have to learn not to.<br>Ego: controls thinking and reasoning, operates in conscious and precociousness, reality, safely and successfully meet needs of Id.<br>Superego: moral watchdog, it is learned, compares ego's actions w/ the "ego ideal"- the standard of excellence for ego to strive for. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Repression: Forgetting situations that would cause painful emotions<br>-Denial: rejection/ refusing to acknowledge an intolerable reality<br>- Rationalization: substitution a more acceptable but false reason for one's behavior (the teacher hates me, that is why I failed)<br>-Reaction Formation: modifying an anxiety-causing impulse by performing in ways opposite to one's true feelings<br>- Projection: seeing one's personality traits, attitudes, or faults in others but not in oneself<br>- Regression: retreating to an earlier developmental level involving less mature responses<br>- Undoing: atoning for and thus counteracting desires or acts that are regrettable (apologizing)<br>- Sublimation: People re-channel their unacceptable impulses into socially approved activities<br>-Displacement: shifts sexual or aggressive impulses towards a more acceptable or less threatening object or person (kick the dog)<br>- Compensation:&nbsp; Covering up weaknesses or frustration by over gratifying oneself in another area (play sport more because you're good at that but not at school work, which you struggle with)<br>- Fantasy: Gratifying frustrated desires in imaginary achievements<br>-Identification: increasing one's feeling of self worth by identifying oneself with people or places of importance.<br>- Intellectualization: People use extensive vocabulary to explain relatively simple terms (Reid on Criminal Minds)<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Oral stage (0-1 and a half) Pleasure center in mouth, fixations on oral and dependency.<br>-Anal Stage (1.5-3.5): Pleasure center in anus and elimination, fixation: anal retentive (neat and picky) and anal expulsive (messy)<br>-Phallic Stage (3.5-6): Pleasure center in genitals, jealousy of same sex parent, Fixations: Oedipus complex (replace father and marry mom), Electra complex (Horney) (replace mom and marry dad), Penis envy (women want same organs as men), Cinderella Complex (fear of independence and want to be cared for by opposite sex), Peter Pan Complex (desire to remain young forever)<br>-Latency Period (6-12) : lose interest in opposite sex, "cootie" period.<br>- Genital Stage (Puberty): full adult sexuality, must work on fixations, unresolved problems surface.<br><br>-Karen Horney: gave women a voice, treis to discredit freud's opinion that wormn had weaker superegos and penis envy.&nbsp;<br>Basic anxiety are feelings of insecurity resulting from feelings of loneliness and isolation during childhood.<br>To cope with anxiety: compliant, aggressive, detached<br><br>Mama Mia Fraiser episode:&nbsp;<br>Niles is anal retentive with his bug obsession<br>Fraiser, due to how his girlfriend resembles his late mom, has Oedipus complex<br>By letting Mia do things for him and being passive, Fraiser is showing repression.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Alfred Adler (psychodynamic):<br>he believes problems stem from tensions in&nbsp; childhood social situations- the childhood feelings of inferiority.<br><br>Oldest: responsible, mature, high achiever<br>Middle: easy going, friendly<br>Youngest: Immature, funny, baby-like<br>Only Child: Much like oldest, can have difficulties sharing, more adult like. (supposedly should marry a middle child)<br><br>-Things that affect birth order roles: parents, gender, separate families, adoption/remarriage, death of parent/sibling.<br>*If there is more than a five year gap, then it would start over (both a 16 and 10 year old are oldest children)<br><br>-Carl Rogers (Humanists that believe that people are basically good): people need unconditional positive regard<br>-Albert Bandura: Bobo doll, social modeling (which can affect personality development)<br>-Locus of control (Julian Rotter): internal where what happens to you is based on your own doing vs. external where what happens to you is beyond your control.<br>- Martin Seligman: learned helplessness (dogs)<br>-Gordon Allport: concerned w/ describing personality, not explaining it; cares about the conscious/ obvious; 2800+ traits of personalities<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
