Bike infrastructure improves businesses. According to a San Francisco State University study, 66 percent of shops on San Francisco's Valencia Street reported business improved after the city reduced the width for cars, and widened sidewalk and added bike infrastructure.

The New York City Department of Transportation released a report that shows how bike paths don’t only reduce vehicular traffic congestion, but they also increase bike traffic and made New York's streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Pedestrian zones can help to alleviate and reduce air and noise pollution, as there would be a reduction in the number of cars and reliance on motor vehicles. Nowadays lots of cities are faced with air and sound pollution that it will make them unpleasant and dangerous for their residents.

 

 

 

 Bikers inhale more black carbon than pedestrians do. Some studies have suggested that cyclists can reduce their exposure to air pollution by taking alternative routes. 

 They’re more costly to construct, and often require more dedicated space than simple painted lanes.

 

 Increasing pedestrian areas means higher rent and property prices. After surveying 11 cities in Germany it was revealed that the average of rent has been increased %50 after pedestrianization.

Not only green spaces absorb rainfall, but they also trap and remove pollutants, which are broken down by the root system and soil microbes.

Manicured lawns produce more greenhouse gases then they absorb.

By moving people more efficiently, public transit produces significantly less air pollution per passenger mile than a standard car carrying a single driver. 

Public transportation can convey many more people in much less space than individual automobiles, which helps to keep traffic congestion lower, and helps riders avoid the stress that comes from daily driving in highly congested areas.

Taking public transportation allows riders to spend their transit time reading, working, studying, or being entertained instead of having to watch the road. 

Buses can delay. There are a number of reasons why a bus can be delayed, from a driver calling out sick or the bus having engine problems.

Keeping track of the buses/trains, and the stop times can be difficult, especially in big cities like Turin, Rome, Bari. Most timetables and transit maps are available for any major city online, but the amount of lines and routes intersecting can be overwhelming.

Italy needs to develop a better railway network to convince people to give up their cars. This means money.
