Description: My niece came from Manchester to visit me within a few days of arriving in Glasgow. I told her about Mackintosh, but mostly about  his wife Margaret MacDonald. Two days before she left, she came home with a postcard from Margaret, which immediately became part of my flat. Margaret is accompanied by a postcard from the Duke, a work by a Scottish  artist I met at the Merchant City market.  Beneath Margaret and the Duke lies an Unicorn symbolizing Scotland and a chocolate snowman that my dear ESOL teacher Isabel gave me for Christmas. Of course I did not eat it; it was my Christmas present this year.
Every time I look at it united with the Unicorn it reminds me how generous the Scots have been to me and how grateful I am to them.

The light and the blues of the sea merging with those of the sky are special on the coasts of Africa.
My mother spent her adolescence and youth in Melilla, a Spanish coastal city in North Africa. 
She told us that the entertainment on weekends was to walk to the dock to spend the afternoon watching the fishing boats arrive with their captures.
