The industrial Revolution was all about advancing. In it they started creating machines to replace what a lot of people used to do. For example, the plow was used before the revolution, but after it was industrialized and made the plow way more efficient to farm crops. The big idea of how to advance in society was carried by machines.

The Transcontinental Railroad

One of the main factors to the industrial revolution was the Transcontinental Railroad. It was built by the Irish and the Chinese. Their jobs were dangerous but was one of their only options. The Railroad connected all of America and made what used to be a 6 month journey to the other side of the country, to just around a week. It allowed for states to become interdependent which means that states can rely on other states for certain goods ex. Ohio makes corn and Florida makes fruits.

Andrew Carnegie

Andrew Carnegie contributed a lot to the evolution of America. Carnegie invented steel. Steel was basically iron, except stronger, more flexible, and cheaper. After his invention, steel was used all around America for buildings, the Transcontinental Railroad, and bridges.

John D. Rockefeller also contributed to the industrial revolution. He invented oil, a substance found in the earth that was used to power thing. It powered things such as, lamps, and stoves. It was a big factor to the industrial revolution because it powered all of the machines that helped make America efficient

A monopoly was something that was caused by companies to destroy the competition. They cause other companies to go bankrupt, so that if you wanted that product then you would be limited to only one retailer. This was fixed when the Sherman Anti-Trust Act was put into place. It made monopolies illegal in 1890.

I've learned that Cleveland isn't as boring as I thought it was. I didn't realize that Rockefeller was actually a person. I thought Cleveland was just some big pollution city. But instead, it's a big pollution city that contributed to the Industrial Revolution.

There are many connections to be made with present life and the industrial revolution. One way that i connect to the industrial revolution is how I rely on oil. Thanks to Rockefeller, oil is what gets turned into gasoline which is used in cars. If there was no oil, then I would not be able to drive
