The movie is filled to the brim with amazing, iconic, and talented actors. Just to name a several few: Gloria Romero (Lola Magda), Mark Gil (Domeng), Celia Rodriguez (Ka Doring) and many more. The film was shown in year 2003. Maryo Delos Reyes, who directed the film, earned 50 awards in worldwide film festivals, from Berlin to Rome, for this film. The movie received countless positive feedback from audiences and critics alike. Along with 31 wins and 11 nominations. Which is honestly well-deserved for such beautiful screenplay and direction.

It's about a boy who lives in poverty with his family. Each character with his/her own problems to solve. His sister has cerebral palsy and his grandmother is injured and found out she has an illness to add to the physical injury. With the adults having their own problems, Magnifico decided to take matters into his own hands and created a plan to find a wheelchair for his sister for the upcoming fair and a coffin for his "dying" grandma.

The Good and the Bad Aspect of the Movie

Good Aspects:

- Superb acting, it feels like they're actual real people and not characters from a movie which is a plus for immersion.
- The overwhelming nostalgia the movie has brought to its filipino audience. It successfully brought out a good representation of what modern filipino culture is like. (I know some people from our family who acts like some of the main and or side characters of the movie which is just great, honestly.)
- It doesn't pull any punches. When it hits, it hits. The emotional aspect of this movie is what really does it. Unlike new cinema which has "conflicts" because it is "needed," conflict in this movie really gets it. Like, it's actual real world problems most people can relate to.
- It balances out comedy and sorrow. Whenever a serious scene pops up, it really takes a toll on you. (Kudos to the cast once again.) And whenever it gets too much, it transitions to a more light hearted note which the audience just needs after a heartbreaking scene.
- (spoilers) The foreshadowing of Magnifico's death was just godly. It had me and my friend (Roxas, from another section,) with our mouths gaped wide.
We just guessed that Lola Magda was going to die but they said, nope. Honestly, from the scenes where Magifico and his friend asked how much was the land to bury a coffin in- with Domeng replying with: "Bata ka pa, wag ka mag-isip ng ganyan-" to the irony of him wanting to make a coffin for his grandmother when it turns out he was making his own coffin all this time is just scary and amazing at the same time. Great writing. Good stuff to work with.

Bad Aspects:
- This might be biased since it's an old movie but, the scenes are too blurry to make out on what's happening. Now it's not the casts' fault for this, it's just the movie being old is all.
- Some of the transitions are out of place and or jarring. There's this one scene where Domeng was crying over the loss of his mother and still hasn't let go of the wheelchair she used to had back then. Absolutely heartbreaking. But then, it transitions to a noisier place or more optimistic. It's not the only one though, there are a several few like that scene too. We don't know if that was a stylistic choice made by the cast or not but, it just doesn't sit well for me.
- The romance subplot between Isang and Miong. We could've gone with the movie without it to be honest. There were plenty other ways to make the two of them grow individually as their own person yet no, the romance subplot is weak and it makes the both of them as forgettable characters.
- "Naubos po luha ko mam." - Zalameda
- "I never thought that this kind of movie makes me cry hard." - Benasa
- "I'm still crying." - Abad

A beautiful film that deserved all the love that it had. If we would compare this movie to international movies, it is unique since it perfectly captured Filipino cultures along with the problems society had on others. (Be it with people who have disabilities, personal issues with their family, etc.). It shows perfect emotion and the actors did a good job portraying the characters. Though some international movies spend more budget on making a film to create an artistic and awesome film. Filipino movies spend a lesser budget on making a film yet they still create the film beautifully and realistic.
