In the 1920's anime art first started as stop motion with paper cut-outs on flat paper, a primitive type of animation at the time and was a cheaper version of the popular "Cel Animation" type of animating, which was hand drawn art on celular paper/see-through paper and used in a way to create fluent movements and sharper/cleaner art. These animes were made to creat very short 4 second animations. These animations were things like "Katsudou Shashin", which was the first ever "anime".

Japan had now caught upto, and taken over Disney as the best animations in the world at this time, which made alot of people buy and rent Anime mangas, watch the tvshow's as kids and immerse themselves in this new type of animation. One of the biggest genres of this time was mecha genre, and the anime Mazinger Z has been noted as the biggest influence of current mecha anime

After winning this oscar, it marked anime in the western eyes of hollywood and internationally across the globe, that anime is "legitimate". It sounds dumb to say that, but people were still shocked since it was one of the first foreign films to beat Disney, at "their own game".

in 1984, possibly one of, if not the most recognisable anime characters was created "Goku". Goku was created with the anime "Dragon Ball" (one of my personal favourites), and is even at this time, one of the longest lasting/running shows and anime mangas, giving Dragon Ball an iconic status in anime and being one of the first anime's that American dubbs were sought after. This then created a market for voice actors to the re-dub anime for international audiences and made dragon ball the most bought and sold anime manga and most viewed tv show in america at the time for kids.

They had a massive list of animation shows but they were one of the only mainstream places for people to watch and see anime shows from Japan. Cartoon Network was a huge part of the success internationally for shows like Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Pokemon, Yugioh!, Mobile Suit Gunda, etc.

If it was posibble to mention all of the fabulous animes that have been released over this time period, I would be here all day, some that i;ll metion are Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, Hunter x Hunter, Demon Slayer and many more. So many anime's have created culture icons such as Pikachu from Pokemon, Goku from Dragon ball, Naruto from Naruto. I would have listed them in their own panels but I didnt' have enough time/space, since it seemed all at once a bunch of huge influencial shows all came up at around the same time, in the 1990's/2000's. Anime is now one of the biggest mediums for art and animation in the world still to this day is one of the biggest forms for entertainment, for platforms like "Crunhyroll" to be made for the sole purpose of streaming and broadcasting anime from japan only 1 hour after it is released in Japan. It is similar to streaming platforms like Disney+, Netflix, being a now mainstream form of entertainment for international audiences for anime.
