The island slowly disintegrating without this Gem and will be dead soon without the magical symbol. She leaves her family and sails West but then gets caught in the rapids and washes up on a neighboring island. Not alone, HAY-HAY her chicken friend survives the hasty sea. Moana meets Maui a demigod who helps her find the Gem. They sail together dodging storms, reconnecting with the ocean, and finally reach Te Fiti who is a goddess turned demon.

Once restoring the gem to Te Fiti it breaks the curse on her island. Her home is restored and everything is back to its original form. Her journey was long and rewarding, her family and friends are appreciative and she lives her life with people by her side and new friends for life.
