The fall of petroleum prices with the requirements of the punctual payment of the external debt with the USA aggravated by the shock of the capital markets every time the interest rate increased, Mexico was facing a huge economic crisis that the president did not see light at the end of the tunnel.
Because of this crisis, the IMF gave Mexico a loan for him to get out of their economic crisis but they had two conditions: use the money to reimburse private banks and for applying a structural adjustment policy (reduction of social and infrastructure spending, a privatization program)
With this, the IMF got to help the country by giving them a breath in the economic crisis and for the country to continue to develop.
