Once Upon a Time in a neighborhood about an hour away, two best friends were planning a small sleepover at DJ’s house…

“Sometimes I hate your little sister.” (Friend)

“Yeah you have that permission.” (Me)

“So why did you call me here?”

“Because, guess who just proposed to my mom last week!”

“YES, finally!”

“But there’s a little more.”

“Spill or I spill your blood” (Please don’t judge my friend chose)

“ So he wanted to do something big for her, and you know how my mom gets when he digs up the backyard with my little sisters, right.”

“Yeah”

“Well, he hid the ring in a specific spot that he would remember. My dog ABSOLUTELY hates my step dad, so Snow (my dog) dug up the ring and started digging holes all over the backyard. And right before my dad was going to commence his plan of digging up the backyard.”

“NO”

“So it took three hours of looking for it until we gave up. My little sister (TJ) was playing with Snow in the front porch, but Snow wouldn’t get up, which was OK since she was expecting and litter soon. but then I (accidentally) shoved her out of the way, on the ground was the ring. I literally almost cried.” MY LIFE

At school one day we were at school in 2nd period, Spanish class. The whole class was working on a holiday infographic, we were to find names, dates, and traditions. As I sat on the floor with Kenna and Zahirah, I found myself pondering an important question. “When’s the fourth of July?” I questioned Zahirah. She looked at me as if I was speaking russian, so I asked again. She still didn’t answer, then I asked Kenna. “When’s the fourth of July?”, she also looked at me like I was speaking another language. I sat for about five minutes not realizing my stupidity, come to realize my mistake we all laughed about it. Then later in the class I asked the same question before catching myself, I couldn’t stop! I never got the infographic done, it still sits in my binder. THE END

It was a 9:45pm on a cold winter night in 4th grade and I was playing NBA2K13 with my older brother Will. A few weeks before we got new furniture for the living room. After having the furniture for a few weeks my mom decided to move it so the space was more open. But I forget my mom did this and I tried to sit down in a chair that use to be in front of the tv but it wasn’t there. I was falling in slow motion and the last thing I could remember was my brother laughing as I fell. I finally regained conscious after being knocked out for a few minutes. I finally woke up with my parents and brothers above me I had no clue what happened so they told me that I had cracked my head on a round coffee table and I needed stitches.

We were heading to the doctor's house that lived right down the road to see if he could help. Once we got there we rang the doorbell and he came to the door but instead of telling him what happened my dad started talking about how he looked exactly like Tony Stark but older. Once my dad stopped talking we jumped into his jeep and started driving to his office which was 30 minutes away even though it felt like hours of driving and he fixed my head for free. We felt bad we didn’t pay him or give him anything in return so the same night me and my dad decided to go to the store and by him some bourbon and a ironman mask and that is the day I cracked my head.

I have a certain friend that I tend to be with a lot. We always do stupid stuff that doesn’t get us in trouble, we just look like idiots. Her name is Kendal and her fifteenth birthday was on Valentine’s day, so we recently just spent a weekend together to celebrate her birthday. We went to three different places in the two days we spent together. Four, if you count her neighbourhood at midnight. Out of the three (four?) places we went, the mall was the least eventful- but it was definitely the best.

The day before Saturday, Kendal and I had planned our weekend to the hour. Her dad drove her to my house and picked me up, and took us straight to the Concord Mills Mall. We got there right as it was opening, so there weren’t very many open stores. We ended up just walking around TJ Maxx and making fun of the clothes for half an hour. Kendal’s dad had gotten bored, and decided to go back to his car.

After a couple hours we decided to get a drink from a vending machine. A lemonade cost one dollar and fifty cents, so I just put two dollars in the machine. I got my drink, but one of my quarters from my change fell out of the machine and rolled on the ground in a circle about five times before stopping, but that’s just my guess. It actually never got a chance to stop before it was tragically stolen from me. A boy about ten years old was walking next to the machine with his family and snatched my quarter off the ground. Kendal yelled at me that he had taken it and we both started laughing, but the funniest part was that the boy’s mother took the quarter from him. Did she do the normal thing any mother would do and give it back to me? Not a chance. She dropped it in her purse.

It was a beautiful day, mild weather and partially cloudy. I was outside playing 3 on 3 basketball with my neighbors. My brother, Foster, and I were on separate teams. We were tied 7 to 7 and Foster’s team had the ball. They were right in front of the hoop and my neighbor, Zack, had the ball. He wasn’t open to take the shot so he passed it to Foster. My brother took the ball and shot. The ball went over the backboard and into the lawn. Since he was the one who threw it out, he was forced to go get it. He ran to go get it and at the same time my mother let out my dog. Bandit, not liking my brother for whatever reason, runs over to him. Foster does not see Bandit, my dog, running towards him. He bends down to pick up the ball and Bandit tackles him. He grabs Fosters shoe in his mouth and starts to run around the yard, dragging my brother behind him. Foster is still holding the basketball in his hands so he takes it and throws it at Bandits back. Foster was let go and gets up. My mother calls Bandit into the house as Foster walks over to us. He had scratches and grass stains all over his back.

I was sitting on the bench on our deck with my legs resting on the table. I was scrolling through dog websites with my brother, who was practically on my lap because he wanted to see the dogs so bad. My mom was cooking at the grill stove top making dinner. We were all in our pajamas, having already taken our evening showers.

My mother would comment on dogs whenever I showed her what I liked. “No, that dog would shed too much,” or “That dog would get too big and it is too active,”

Finding a proper dog was a task that never stopped. We spent a hour or so like that, relaxing and think what dog would be a good choice. We soon decided to go inside because my mom had finished cooking and it was becoming quite chilly.

My mother was in the kitchen, making last minute preparations for dinner. My brother and I were sprawled out on our carpeted living room floor. I was sipping ginger ale while my brother and I continued our search for the perfect dog.

An hour later we heard the garage door open. My brother and I shared a glance and yelled “Daddy!” We ran into our garage, excited to tell our dad about the idea of getting a dog and to question him on why he took so long to come home.

Our dad was standing next to a brand new silver Honda CV-R. A few minutes later my mother came out as well.

“Wha-What happened to our other car,” I stuttered.

“We sold it because we thought that the old car would keep breaking,” my dad said, a hint of a smile on his face.

“No, I want the old car,” my brother said. He started crying and it wasn’t silent tear crying, it was full on bawling. I rolled my eyes.

“Get over it crybaby, it is just a car,” I said. My brother glared at me. We ended up going around our neighborhood in the car and after seeing the inside of the car, my brother’s tears turned into gasps of wonder.

It is not that funny but it was more funny if you were there at the time.

One day me and my dad were at a Charlotte Hornets game. The 1st half was over and the halftime show was coming out. This guy was coming out and the announcer said he had to hit a half court shot while blindfolded to win 70,000 dollars. So two people put a blindfold on the guy and he went up to the half court line to shoot the shot. While he ran up to shoot the shot the jumbo-tron said YELL!. So when the guy air-balled the shot the crowd yelled and acted like he made it. The guy believed us and went up to get the check but when the announcer wouldn't` give him the check because he actually missed the shot he stole the check from the announcer and tried to run off the court with the check. But the security had to go tackle him and get the check from him( which i didn't understand because the check looked fake). The guy then actually got kicked out of the game by the security people and me and my dad felt bad for him because if you got pranked like that wouldn't you do the same thing.

A couple months ago, during Spring, my brother was playing a game of basketball. The score was super close (22-20) and my brothers time was barely winning. As time went by, the score remained the same. As the end of the 3rd quarter arrived, the other team got the ball. There was one really good player on that team who had scored at least 12 out of the 20 points that they had. He took the ball down the court and arrived at the 3 point line. He passed it to his team mate and they passed it back and forth for a while and then, finally, after what seemed like hours, made a run for it. He got through everyone until only one person stood in his way. The defender was shouting something, but he couldn’t hear him. He drove the ball around him and went in for the lay up. If he scored, my brothers team would go into their first overtime game. He ran up to the basket to make the shot. He turned back, so proud of himself for making it, until he turned around and realized that he forgot that at halftime, the teams switch sides. The game ended quickly after, with a score of 24-20.

The Baby

“What a beautiful fall day!” I exclaimed, as I walked out onto the porch on Thanksgiving Day. I smiled to myself as I thought about my brand new baby cousin Stellan. I grabbed a football out of my garage and tossed it to my brother. He didn’t catch it, of course, but he threw it back to me with the arm of an NFL quarterback. We played ball until My grandparents, Nana and Papa, came over. My aunt Cindy and cousin were there too. I went and said hello, then inside to prepare for the rest of the guests.

They arrived one by one: My uncle Gabe, with my cousins Miles, Hazen, and Sidney, my great aunt kathy, and finally, last, were Adrian, Nicole, and my new baby cousin Stellan. Everyone was very excited to meet him. He was only a wee baby, not even 2 months old yet! “Can I hold him, please?” my brother asked. “Let's wait until we get inside” said Ady. “He’s very small.”

Once inside, we all sat on the couch to get a better look at Stellan. “He’s so cute!” screamed the two girls. All of us were taking pictures, when my dad picked him up. We took a bunch of photos when all of a sudden, he whipped around, and punched my dad directly in the face. “OWWWWW!” exclaimed my dad, clutching his face. All of us burst out laughing, Including stellan, in a baby laugh. Then, Stellan began to jump off the couch. Luckily, I Managed to dive underneath and catch him before he hit the ground. We still think about that punch every time we see Stellan. 👶🏼

I know it's not very funny, but it was at the time.

The Mail Man

The week after Christmas. The green sappy pine tree goes down, the shiny ornaments get put away in boxes, and all of the leftover gingerbread gets thrown in the trash. I got up bright in the morning with the sun shining in my face through the blinds on the window. I look over to Gabrielle’s bed. She is just now waking up. “Hey Gabrielle. Do you want to go downstairs,” I said.

“Sure.” I run down the stairs waiting for my sister on the second floor.

    “Is today Saturday?”

    “Yeah why?”

“I just thought of the funniest prank ever,” I said while laughing. “Go upstairs and get your robe and put it over your clothes.”

“Um okay,” Gabrielle said while pausing. When Gabrielle came back she had brought my robe down to. I ran to the kitchen and grabbed two empty coffee mugs out of the silver dish washer.

“Here take this,” I said while handing one of the coffee mugs to her. I walked over to the front door, opened it, and sat down in a white rocking chair on the porch. My sister followed me outside and did the same thing. I told Gabrielle to stand up infront of me and pretend to have a conversation like grownups sipping their coffee. We did this for about 15 minutes until it happened. The mail man was coming down the road in his little white car. As the mailman passed our house he slowed down, (and I’m not kidding) stopped his car, rolled down is window and just stared at us for about five minutes. Me and my sister ran back inside of the house, slammed the door and starting laughing. That was the day of the stareing mailman.

The Unstoppable Cat

One day a few months ago, I was typing at my computer doing homework, when my cat jumped onto the table. My cat is very used to being allowed to do whatever she wants, as I may or may not pamper her a tiny bit. So, of course, she felt the need to get me to come play with her. She decided to accomplish this by making it impossible for me to do my homework.

Unfortunately, I could not play at the moment, as I was doing homework. So, I picked her up and set her on the floor. She looked at me with this face of wonder, like, Who died and made you emperor?
I had to do my homework, though, so I turned around and got back to work.

Of course, if you know anything about cats, you know that they have three basic rules: The first one is to never take no for an answer. The second one is to always be annoying first. The last one is to always persevere and push for playtime, food, sleep, and nothing else. So, of course, following the rules, she jumped back up, this time onto the back of the chair. I reached for her, but she hopped onto my head, and I had a hard time getting her onto the ground again. Finally, I shoved her off by tilting my head backwards, which caused her to fall off when she wasn’t paying attention.

Once she was on the floor again, her tail started twitching, a tell-tale sign of annoyance. Not that she was giving up. This time, she jumped up perfectly onto the table, and before I could reach her, she strolled across the keyboard, causing the computer to shut down.

I gave up, and played with her for half an hour, before finishing my homework.

The Video

One day my brothers and I were outside enjoying a good game of soccer until I tried to show my brother up and failed epically. Later I did the rabona and scored a goal on my older brother and he was mad because it should not be that easy to score while doing the rabona. He got mad and said “I can do that and score on you any day” so I was like “ok TRY”.so when he went to kick I got ready and he did the rabona and he fell on his face and the ball did not come close to the goal. My mom was watching when it happened and she got it on camera.

Now I just remind my brother when he thinks he can beat me in soccer and he gets even more mad so we don’t really play much anymore. Sometimes he gets mad and when I ask him if he wants to play he just ignores me. Another time he asked if i wanted to play soccer again and I was surprised because he was mad still about me beating him. So we played again and he said “ If I score on you with the rabona you have to delete that video” I said “OK but you're not going to score”. So I got ready to block the ball and when he shot I blocked it but I celebrated too early and the ball went up and rolled in the goal when I was celebrating.

So I had to delete the video and I was not happy so I challenged him and said “if I score on you from half court while doing the rabona I don't have to delete the video”. I just thought to myself “why am I doing all of this for a video”? So I did not really try when I kicked the ball the ball curved and went in the top right corner of the goal and I went crazy because that’s a really hard goal to make. My brother left and said “you win” and left.

Something funny that has happened to me is when I went to the movies with my cousins and sister. Last summer my cousins came up to North Carolina to come stay with us. My cousins and sister wanted to see a scary movie, even though they talked through any movie they watched. I was forced to go because they are all too immature to go alone. When we got to the movie they had decided what movie they were going to watch, without telling me, so I had no say in what movie we were going to watch. When we got to the movies and paid for the tickets is when I saw that we were seeing Insidious 3, I think. I went to go get some seat with my, favorite, cousin Zaeem. While the others went to spend their money on snacks and stuff. When they got back they talked throughout the whole previews. While watching the movies my cousins and sisters were talking about how “boring” the movie was, instead on watching the actual movie. While Zaeem and I were telling them to hush, because other people were watching the movie and they had wanted to see the movie in the first place. After we had told them that they stopped talking and paid more attention to the movie. Around 10 or 20 minutes later there was this one scene that one of my cousins, Zaniyah, thought was scary. I think the scene was when this girl just popped out of nowhere and then the movie started to play the loud music, that for some reason makes you jumpy. When this part happened my cousin Zaniyah started screaming and said, “Change the channel! Change the Channel!” The people behind her started staring and laughing at her while my cousin, Zaeem, and I started moving seats to make it look like we were not with them. We then watched the rest of the movie without distractions. To this day we still remind my cousin of what happened this day. While we are watching anything, it doesn’t even have to be scary, we say “Change the channel! Change the channel.” This might not be very funny, but it was the best thing I could remember at the time.

Mature Content

Back last year, in the last week of school, Xavier,Aiden, Alex N, Haley and I were all playing Apples To Apples. There were decent questions coming up like “Funny” or “Controversial”. You play Apples To Apples by answering a card in the middle with the most relevant thing in your deck possible. This doesn't mean you have anything relatable with the subject but who cares anyway. One of the cards we got was “Best Movie” Xavier hated the Green Lantern movie from 2008, and that was one of the cards one of us had. So one of us put down the card “Green Lantern” just to tick him off. It did of course, and we had a good laugh. But then the card “Mature Content” came up. You see, This was interesting because all the cards were pretty much really babyish so far, and because this wasn’t the junior version we were about to quit. We all paused and scrambled to find a card to match this subject, but none of us had any. This was when we all put down random cards to get rid of. To be funny, I put down “Country Music”. Because No one of us had any cards that related, Aiden decided it would be funny to slam Xavier's head down instead of a card, and say, “I play the Xavier's face card!” Because he wasn’t expecting it, Xavier's face actually hit the floor but it didn’t hurt him. Of course Xavier didn’t like this and hit Aiden, but we were to busy laughing to care. Eventually when we stopped laughing Xavier didn’t care anymore.

The End!

It was a bright sunny day in Tampa, Florida. The sun kissed my skin in the light of day. I was a little tyke, around the age of three. My parents had bought me a wonderful red tricycle. Everyday, I would ride up and down the street, in my backyard, on the golf course, and basically everywhere. Even, when I came home from pre-school, you could hear the sound of wheel to pavement. I loved the joy it gave me. When I rode my tricycle, it felt like the wind was rushing against my skin, making me feel alive. The power the tricycle gave me was immense. One day, my young three year old mind decided to be brave and ride my tricycle around the pool area. I was adventurous. I was Jane from the “Jungle Book”, ready to explore. My parents had told me to always stay clear of the pool area, because of the dangers it could bring. Of course I was three and didn’t really pay much attention. I started pedaling. Soon, I gradually built up speed, and started riding faster and with more strength. My thighs tightened as I pressed my feet into the pedals. Suddenly, I felt my handlebars quickly move to one side. I struggled to find both handlebars and suddenly, the world I was surrounded in, was wet. I struggled to find air as a big red tricycle was toppling me. I pushed against the tricycle trying to find fresh air. As I pushed the tricycle over me, I could start to feel the fresh air burst against my skin.

“Isabel! Grace! Ashley!” my mother exclaimed from the pavement. She jumped in after me, not even worrying about my precious tricycle. As I felt her hands pick me up and carry me back into the house, I could hear her furious voice bellow. Of course, my sister was just laughing at me, not caring if I was dead or alive. My mother walked me into the house and she scolded me for riding my tricycle near the pool. As she scolded me, all I could do was start laughing. Sooner or later, she started laughing along with me.

One day, I got grouped up on a team with Sangana and Lena. We were playing basketball games with other groups. We did TERRIBLE! I played two different teams before I got to Alex’s team. When we started, the other team got the ball first and it was going all good. They made a shot, so then our team got the ball. Riley checked the ball with Lena. Lena passed me the ball and then out of nowhere, I was on the floor! I thought I got hit by some professional football player because I went flying to the ground. Alex tackled me!!! I just layed there and hoped that she would not tackle me no more in the game. Then next thing you know, I’m on the ground again. This time, it hurt a lot.

It was a rainy and cold Sunday night and I had nothing to do. I was bored out of my mind and decided to tell my friend, Sammie, to come over. Fortunately, she had nothing to do either, so she walked over (in the pouring rain). She rang my doorbell as she stood there dripping with water from her clothes after the two block walk to my house. We rushed upstairs and talked for a bit, but then we got bored again. Out of the blue I said, “Let’s go on the trampoline.” “Oh yes we’re doing it,” screamed Sammie. Without hesitation we both sprinted downstairs like road runner and right before we got to the door Sammie said, “We should wear rain boots, cause technically it’s raining outside.” “Sammie, you’re an actual genius,” , then we went over to get rain boots. I only had one pair, so I was just like, “We’ll each just wear one rain boot, it’ll be fine.” Little did we know that we were out of our minds, but it was ok. So we each put one single rain boot on, and then ran outside and jumped up onto the trampoline. We slipped and fell on top of each other too many times to count, but we just kept on going. We kept on laughing the time away when I saw a soccer ball in the backyard, so I brought it on and we started to play gaga ball. We played multiple rounds of it and didn’t even realize that it started to rain even harder. We also didn’t realize that it slowly started to thunder and, there was some lightning coming along. Sammie and I were so caught up in laughing and the trampoline that my mom had to come out and practically drag us off of the trampoline. We spent around half an hour in the pouring rain having so much fun in our rain boots, on the trampoline. For some reason, I still think that we had one of the funnest nights I can remember together.

Every once in awhile my family and I go out out to Frye’s Roller Rink to go and skate. Once we even invited my cousin. Now, I am an okay skater. My brother, on the other hand, can not skate to save his life. The first time we went skating, my brother fell on his butt about fifty times. I am pretty sure he was on the floor more than he was up and skating. One of these past skating trips I went up to and said

“ Want me to help you skate?”

He said, “No way, I can skate fine on my own,” and he pushed off stumbling along the way.
