Globally there is still around % of kids who do not have literacy or numeracy skills. Unfortunately this is due to wars and not enough funding in some 3rd world countries. Nationaly there has been a problem of elementary school kids reaching literacy benchmarks due to multiple factors including technology distraction and lack of parental focus on studies. Kids are now spending more on social media at an earlier age and are unable to create good learning habits and don’t care about school. This can also be attributed to teachers not always having enough to pay to be able to spend more time with students. Tutoring in school is only something I’ve seen in high school and something that lacks in middle and elementary for regular students. Locally school have changed curriculum to be simpler and not as challenging. Each lesson with a game and school are expecting less from students. This hurts their growth ceiling. If they never fail in school they won’t know how to deal with failure later on in life.
