I think that this quote contains a very meaningful message. I describes the feeling of growing up and having to leave friendships and relationships behind. I think, that many teens can relate to that. Especially when friendships, that lasted their whole childhood and preteens come to an end. It's challenging for many of us, because most relationships don't even end because of a big fight or something but just because people change while growing up and you just kind off loose each other in the process.

I really liked the book. The writing style is simple but works well with the diary-like format. The story feels quite realistic, too. The “plot twist” about Aunt Helen at the end (if you can call it that) really made me see the whole story differently. While rereading certain passages for the tasks, after finding out the truth about his aunt, I interpreted a lot more into the story. I also think the author did a good job fleshing out the characters and making them feel real, even though we don't get much information about anyone besides Charlie. My only critique is that the pacing felt a bit off at times. But all in all, this novel was one of my favorite pieces of school literature.
