Rick Riordan (born Richard Russell Riordan Jr., but more commonly known as Rick Riordan) is a author who write books for middle grade children. His books explore Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse mythology in modern day. He creates a diverse cast of characters, including LGBTQ, people with disabilities and minority characters. The fanbase, often referred to as "demigods", lovingly refers to Riordan as "Uncle Rick". He is an explorer, as he takes clichés and throws them out the window. He allows the reader to be transported to another dimension altogether. He allows readers to learn about the people around them, and about themselves—where their from, culture, religion, etc. Riordan takes what we love about people, and multiplies it by 100000. Some diversity he included: people with ADHD, Dyslexia, PTSD and others. I, on a personal note, have seen him on his book tour twice—one last year for The Tyrants Tomb Tour of Doom, and another this year for The Trials of Uncle Rick—which were both amazing.
