WETA MOTEL
put the Weta motel on a shady side of the tree because they like to hide in dark places.

WETAS DIET:carrots,seeds , insects  and mostly leaves.

PREDATORS:rats cats and hedgehogs
and mustleds .

    The eyes stare at me and makes my heart beat fast

    The hair on the weta's legs look like my dads hairy legs 

    The pincers stab into the ground finding prey

    • People are destroying wetas habitats by turning them into farms and cutting down forests and trees
    • Along time ago wetas only had predators that were native to NZ but then we brought pests from other countries, weta have so many predators they can no longer defend themselves so they are dying out
    • People are scared and creeped out of wetas so they don't want to help them and sometimes we kill them, we need to people to step up and help, because they are native to NZ and they don't deserve to die 


    How we can help:
    • We can help by making people change their mind and see the good side of a weta we need to show empathy to them 
    • We should have limits to how many trees we can cut down 
    • We should build more weta motels and safe homes for weta to live in 
    • If you see a weta don't be afraid and take a moment to admire the wonderful creature, they won't hurt you if you don't hurt them 
    • We can help by not stepping on them and if you don't want the weta where it is move it carefully away instead of killing it
