I have decided to do a synchronous learning event. To this end, you will each receive an email to your USQ UMAIL account with a doodle poll, asking when you are available to participate (note all times are S.E. QLD times). If you are free for all of the times, for example, tick them all, leave blank the times you are unable to do. I will arrange the time and date for the Zoom session based in the poll feedback. 
The event will concentrate on the posting / processing of business transactions for a simple sole trader business. I will share my screen and we will go through together the posting of the transactions to see how an income statement and balance sheet is created from these transactions. 
In preparation for this event, please think about when you have been involved with receiving and spending money (in a business or a home budget situation).
The learning event will take no more than 60 minutes.

It is an asynchronous discussion forum that will run for 2 weeks where you will be asked to participate in activities  centred around STEM education and how to improve student engagement and teaching strategies in both the online and traditional environments.

My online learning event is ready for you to explore and will remain open until 7th June 2018! The focus of the event is to explore the fundamental skills required of Nurses working in Emergency Departments.

This event is designed to take place over a 3-week period as there are 3 modules in total; it is anticipated that you explore the modules one week at a time at a pace relevant to your needs. It is anticipated that you spend at least 1hr per week engaging in discussions within each module.

However, this course recognises the principles of adult learning and you are free to explore the full content of this course in a fashion that meets your individual learning requirements. 
 
Communication between will default to asynchronous means; leave a comment within the module! I will also be online every Wednesday from 7pm-8pm AEST (Brisbane) from 9th May until 6th June 2018 to facilitate synchronous communication in the comment sections of each module as well as in the discussion board. You’ll notice the banner at the top of the course home page, which will let you know if I’m online!

I am conducting an asynchronous learning event on Biochemical Calculations. It will begin on Monday 7th of May, and run for 3 weeks, ending on the 30th of May.

The aim is to discuss the best ways to share information to the students on basic calculations that are required for Biochemistry students. Not all the students are maths oriented, and many simply do Biochemistry because it is a service subject, so developing an engaging module is important. Although the topic appears to be onerous, there is nothing you need to know before you participate. It is more important that you bring along your creativity and a willingness to share ideas.

You will be asked to view a learning event module created for students, and provide your thoughts on how it can be made more engaging (please keep practical limitations in mind, although  I am happy for you to share totally impractical-dream ideas as well). There are 5 topics, and the reading time  of each one will vary, so you are welcome to pick and choose which sections you look at, allowing you to determine how much time you spend on the event. 

This learning module has been created in padlet, with a portion in WordPress. The padlet is accessible at https://padlet.com/u1110202/v6e8kdj7bdk5. The password is EDU8114. The WordPress sections should not require you to create an account, and all links are found through the padlet module.

I am running an asynchronous  event from May 18th until June 1st.

My topic is on Electronic Portfolios (ePortfolios). As a music teacher in Higher Ed, this is something I am very interested in as it is under utilised as a classroom tool, especially for music history and theory (although commonly used for music composition as a showcase and assessment tool).

I am interested and looking forward to discussing your own experiences and how you value the use of ePortfolios, how an ePortfolio motivates student learning with goal setting and any potential drawbacks associated with them.
