<title>Competition and cooperation were not overtly stressed when I was growing up. My parents divorced when I was 7 and until I was 13 my mother was working and going to school, so my brother and sister and I were left in a cooperative situation out of necessity. However, left to our own devices much of the time we developed a fairly prominent passive aggressive competitive aspect to our relationships with each other.</title>

<title>Conflict was generally dealt with in an indirect manner. Growing up we had too much to do to allow for individual feelings to dominate the familial relationship or the efficacy of a functioning household as my brother and sister and I had numerous responsibilities maintaining the household. This would lead to infrequent volatile conflicts but these were rare.</title>

<title>I feel that growing up we didn&#39;t have strong attachments to the elder members of the family. They lived far away from us and so visits were infrequent. I&#39;d like to say that we had an opinion of them one way or the other but our sphere of experience didn&#39;t really lend itself to forming one. We spent most of our formative years interacting among ourselves and those of our peer groups.</title>

<title>Religion was taught to me at an early age extending into my teens, however by age 12 I had already developed uncertainties and questions about the religion that I couldn&#39;t resolve. While behaving appropriately for a time I secretly did library research and asked questions of others from among different spiritual persuasions whenever opportunities arose. My family&#39;s early religious education is still there but was largely supplanted by an individual perspective.</title>

<title>My Mother was the decision maker in my youth due to my parents divorce and my father having a participatory but non-administrative role for a time from afar. Mainly rules were set in place and all major propositions went through my mother but as she was quite busy with work and school my brother, being the oldest, became the de facto decision maker for many things in our childhood. </title>
