We began by describing the objects physical state of matter (solid, liquid, aerosol, etc), and other obvious physical qualities such as its viscosity. The second range of observation ws about its reactions to other substances, such as alcohol evaporating at room temperature, and glue hardening in air. The last range of observations was about the active ingredients in each item, such as hydrogen peroxide in lysol and the ethyl alcohol in rubbing alcohol.
