         <description><![CDATA[<div>Before 1848, Italy was divided into many different states each influenced by one of the major European powers. Victor Emmanuel II wanted Italy to be unified. Along side the French, Emmanuel attacks Austria. Giuseppe Garibaldi led the revolution in the south. Garibaldi then agreed to give his conquests to Emmanuel and Italy was unified.</div>]]></description>
