         <description><![CDATA[<div>Thorndike : purpose of study - behavior of animal, gradual or sharp increase, distinguish how fast the animal learns to do a certain action in order to escape; to see if there a gradual or a sharp increase&nbsp;<br>procedure: created box put cat in it, if cat pushed button it would get out of box, there was another way to get out but wanted to condition cat to push the button, gradual increase&nbsp;<br>results of study: response gradually increase reward, postive response strengths reward, always a gradual shift for learning to do a behavior and the shift LAW OF EFFECT&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Purpose : started research on salivation and digestion<br>used classical conditioning to study peoples reflexes : haw are conditioned reflexes acquired if you arent born with them? - relate to dogs salivating first at footsteps<br>procedure : dogs had incision in cheek with tube to collect saliva&nbsp;<br>placed in soundproof lab, no external stimuli, test metronme, small of vanilla and rotating object&nbsp; and mkunt of saliva<br>(saliva = unconditioned reflex; smell sounds = neutral stimulus, food = unconditioned stimulus )<br>Results : UCS + NS = CR<br>playing the metronome, releasing the scent of vanilla or rotationg th object right hefore giving the dogs food creates an association between the sound of the metronome, the sight of the object or the smell of vanilla and food so the stimulus become<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Seligman &amp; Malier<br>purpose : our perceptions of power and control are learned from experience.&nbsp;<br>Classical conditioning, learned helplessness<br>Procedure: 24 dogs dived into escape group and nonescape group escape has a button that would stop shock; nonescape group- button would not work<br>results : nonescape group - did not try to escape because they learned it would not work; escape group- dogs escaped by 30 seconds or more<br>relevance - teen with depression<br><br>Bandura&nbsp;<br>purpose: if based on modeling if children would mimic violent or nonviolent actions<br>procedure: experimental group and control group compared to eachother- toys placed in room and teacher would administer how they would act ;&nbsp;<br>results : children exposed to aggression/ poor model behavior, were more likely to imitate behavior&nbsp;<br>no ethical : aggressive behave was not addressed or reversed or parental consent was not stated<br>relevance : predict future behavior ; one grows up in an abusive house hold and could become more aggressive when theyll older&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
