ISLAM places the bond of brotherhood that is established between human beings is not only connected by the bond between lineages or humanity alone but even further than that which is the relationship based on Islamic bonds. In other words, the brotherhood that is formed is purposeful because of Allah SWT. SOLAT

(29:45) (O Prophet), recite the Book that has been revealed to you and establish Prayer.⁷⁷ Surely Prayer forbids indecency and evil.⁷⁸ And Allah's remembrance is of even greater merit.⁷⁹ Allah knows all that you do.

SAWM

(2:183) Believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon those before you, that you become God-fearing.

ZAKAT

[9:103] (O Prophet)! "Take alms out of their riches and thereby cleanse them and bring about their growth (in righteousness), and pray for them. Indeed your prayer is a source of tranquillity for them." Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.

HAJJ UMRAH

The months of Hajj are well known. Whoever intends to perform Pilgrimage in these months shall abstain from sensual indulgence,²¹⁴ wicked conduct²¹⁵ and quarrelling;²¹⁶ and whatever good you do, Allah knows it. Take your provisions for the Pilgrimage; but, in truth, the best provision is piety. Men of understanding, beware of disobeying Me.

What is Khusyu’?

There are many definitions of khusyu’, according to Mufti Wilayah’s website, Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah Rahimahullah said: “Khusyu’ is the steadfast of the heart when facing Allah s.w.t., with humility and humbleness.” Meanwhile, Imam Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali Rahimahullah stated the definition of khusyu’ is: “The origin of khusyu’ comes from the softness of the heart, the calm, and submissive state of one’s heart.”

Ways to attain Khusyu'?

To attain khusyu’ in prayer is a little bit difficult unless he really wants to. That is why Allah has mentioned that regarding the reward for those who attain khusyu’ in Surah al Mu’minoon, verses 1-2, which means: “Successful indeed are the believers: Those who humble themselves (khusyu’) in prayer.”

Why Khusyu’ in Prayer is so Important?

Prayer is the second pillar of Islam and we as a Muslim need to worship in five times a day. Prayer in Islam is a way for the believers to communicate with Allah s.w.t.. It is an act of devotion, repentance, surrender, an expression of love, and servitude to Allah who is our creator and sustainer. It is also the key to success in our life in here and hereafter like in the verses mentioned before. As a Muslim must believe everything that Allah said and this is a true promise that Allah gives to His believer as stated in the Quran means: “It is a promise of Allah, and Allah never fails in His promise.” (Surah ar-Rum: 6)

Khusyu’ will contribute factor for the acceptance of prayer. As the example above, Ali could not be khusyu’ because he remembered other things than Allah during his prayer. He could not feel the real meaning of prayer when he did not concentrate in prayer. Uthman reported Allah’s messenger as saying: “When the time for a prescribed prayer comes, if any Muslim observes proper ablution, humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin, and that means for all time.” All the benefit and reward are useless if he is not devout in his prayer.

How to Attain Khusyu’ in Prayer?

The following are several ways that could help someone to attain khusyu’ in prayer.

Niat (intention)most important to attain khusyu’ is niat. If someone only prays without having intention to be khusyu’, then his prayers are just in vain
Remembering death.Narrated by al-Baihaqi in Al-Zuhd which the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. stated: “Remember death in prayer, for someone who remembers death in his prayer would beautify his prayer.
Does not perform the prayer hurriedly and quickly act without toma’ninah in ruku’ and sujood is forbidden by the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.. In a hadith from Abu Hurairah r.a., he said: “Allah's Messenger s.a.w. entered the mosque and a person followed him. The man prayed and went to the Prophet and greeted him. The Prophet s.a.w. returned the greeting and said to him: ‘Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.’” (Sahih al-BUKHARI)

ADAB

ADAB DEFINITION

Adab refers to Islamic etiquette. It is the manner of conduct that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used while interacting with the world around him. It is the way he treated his companions, his wives, his enemies, his Ummah, and all living things.

Adab, therefore, is an ‘ilm’ or a knowledge bestowed upon our Prophet (PBUH) by Allah so that he can teach the same to all of mankind.

Narrated by Hz Abu Hurairah (RA) that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: [1]
“The perfect believer in respect of faith is he who is best of them in manners

THE BENEFITS OF ADAB

A person's social image is how they are perceived by others in a society. REPUTABLE SOCIAL IMAGE by respecting others being honest having good manners
REINFORCING FAITH
By implementing good manners and Adab actually reinforcing the faith.
Example : Even the disbelievers of Mecca who wanted to kill Muhammad (PBUH)acknowledged his truthfulness. None could deny his noble character and good manners.

humility shields the believer from self-praise, unhealthy pride and arrogance
Allah SWT will raise the degree of those who humble themselves
The feeling of peace and serenity in his/her heart
becomes closer to Allah SWT

How to can we be humble ?

Realise how small we are
make friends with humble people
be wise with compliments
do charity and good deeds
greet each other with salaam and smile

"Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds and humbled themselves to their Lord - those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide eternally therein."(surah Hud:23)

What is Khusu’? Khusu’ during salah is misunderstood by some people as crying and weeping. Rather, it is the presence of heart during an act of ibadah. When a person heart is fully occupied of what he says or hears, he is in a true state of Khusu’. The concept of khusu’ in salat is very essential. Many muslims pray regularly but still cant achieve the benefits of salat. “Indeed the believers who have khusu in their salat, are the winners”

There are many importance of khusu in salat. First of all, khusu makes people success in their life and after life. In the quran above, state the blessings of salat which is the key to success. This is the true promise and the declaration of success to the believers. "It is a Promise of Allah, and Allah fails not in His Promise" [30:6]. The "Believers", who have attained true success, both individuals and the Jama'ah, are those who have accepted the Message of Muhammad (s.a.w.) that have acknowledged him as their guide, and followed the way of life taught by him. Besides, salat is the first item about which one will be questioned after death. The person who succeeds in this test, will likely pass through and enter the paradise. Certainly the believers have succeeded, those who offers salat in khusu.

Secondly, khusu will contribute factor for the acceptance of salat. Khusu in salat is very important because salat is the best ibadah. Outside of salat we should have taqwa, discipline, good manner and morals and also khusu in salat. Allah is watching us, wether we are performing salat, sleeping, eating or anything else. Everytime we pray, we always think about our friends, schoolwork, and even worse something you saw in television. One of the biggest problems many Muslims have today is being able to focus in prayer, or having Khushu’. In today’s hectic world, it is very difficult to concentrate on during Salah and we often find ourselves thinking of various worldy things. When we commit sin, we open ourselves up for the Shaytan (Devil) and his whispers. Inshallah, let’s watch our sins, keep them to a minimum, and seek repentance when we fall short. This will also increase our faith and in turn, our khusu’.

Thirdly, it is the way to gain more rewards from the Almighty Allah; the more khusu the person, the more rewards he get. We cannot expect this great reward without having sincere focus in prayer. In my opinion, taqwa steams for khusu because we must first be aware that we are constantly being watch and every actions or thought we take is being recorded and will be answered in the day of judgement. Once you know this in your heart, you develop taqwa because you fear displeasing Allah in any way. By taqwa, we can get rewards from Allah. There are many ways to improve your khushu’ during prayers also. In fact, there are really too many to ways. But some of the easiest methods to implement this are by understand what you’re reciting, reciting different verses and duas and avoiding potential distractions while praying.

Moreover, without khusu the heart cannot easily be purified because salat restrains from shameful and unjust deeds. Salah keeps one away from shameful and evil deeds and when you remember of Allah during your prayers, Allah will mention your name in response to your prayers. Along with this etiquette of the body, it is also important that one should avoid thinking irrelevant things during the Prayer by purifying the thought and keeping the mind in full harmony and tune with the tongue. One should also try the utmost to ensure that the mind and heart are wholly turned towards Allah in order to sense His Grace and to worship Him solely.Allah has praised those who have khusu in their prayer. Furthermore, salat is a source of strength and patience because everytime we face difficulities in life, we will seek for Him by salat with full of concentration.

The hajj is the fifth of the fundamental Muslim practices and institutions known as the Five Pillars of Islam. The pilgrimage rite begins on the 7th day of Dhū al-Ḥijjah (the last month of the Islamic year) and ends on the 12th day.

“…And (due) to Allah from the people is a pilgrimage to the House – for whoever is able to find thereto a way. But whoever disbelieves – then indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds.” [Surah Al-Imran 3:97]

The hajj is incumbent on all Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the pilgrimage, but only if their absence will not place hardships on their family. A person may perform the hajj by proxy, appointing a relative or friend going on the pilgrimage to “stand in” for him or her.

PATIENCE IN ISLAM

SABR

Patience is to hold one’s soul from being impatient and displeased, holding the tongue from complaining and the body parts from harming himself or others. The patience is mentioned at many places in Qur’an and Sunnah of the beloved Prophet (Peace be upon him), which shows the virtues and greatness of Patience.

“And be Patient. Surely, Allah is with those who are patient.”
Allah said to those who are facing challenges, difficulties or trials that He is with them by guiding and supporting them and granting them a clear victory. Allah Almighty said:

“Surely, Allah is with those who are As Sabirun (the patient).” [Qur’an, 8:46]
From this verse of Noble Qur’an, we can say that no matter what’s the situation we are facing we should be faithful and patient as Allah is with us, He will never leave us alone.

PRACTICING CORRECT AMAL

AL-'AMAL

Before we go deeper into the benefits of practicing correct Amal, surely we have to know what is it.

From Islamic Markets, "Al-'Amal" literally work or activity. In technical, Al-'Amal is a value of Islamic society that stresses the need for hard work and action by human beings. The Quran glorifies work and condemns wasting of time in idleness and frivolities. All kinds of work must be beneficial to themselves and other human beings or good. Islam encourages us to do good deeds and obliges us to consider the needs of society as well.
