Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States. He served two terms from 1829 to 1837. He was of the southern democrat party during the “era of good feelings”, when it was the dominant party. He used the universal white male suffrage to keep himself in office, as the poor class who didn’t own land were his primary supporters. This was because Jackson’s political ideals were much more in line with the unwatched masses than the federalists and republicans that came before him. Jackson's ideals are shown through his policies such as the 1830 removal act and pet banks, which favored the larger poor class.

Prior to Jackson’s presidency, the Federalist party died with Alexander Hamilton in 1804. After his death, the Federalist party ceased to influence America for several years. Later, John Marshall strengthened the central government and established the notion of judicial review which gave more power to the central government. John Quincy Adams enacted several large tariffs that were aimed at making the government stronger. These tariffs improved the North, but left out the Southern states setting the stage for future political tensions.

Prior to the end of Andrew Jackson's Presidency, Jackson's set new standards in American politics that shaped the narrative of the Nation. Jackson won the election in a landslide due to Universal White Male suffrage, which empowered the common man to voice their concerns in politics for the first time in American history. This set a new precedent for the landscape of political campaigns, forcing candidates to appeal to all and not just the elitists in society. Creating a new division in American politics that marked the end of the Era of Good Feelings, sparking the creation of the Whig party, in direct opposition to Jacksonian America. Showing the effect Jackson's presidency had on the beginning of a new age in American political history.

Before his presidency Andrew Jackson was a general in the war of 1812 in New Orleans, this gave him respect from the common men. Jackson was later elected in 1828 because he had a large following from the common man due to the fact that the universal white male suffrage movement in the 1820’s allowed all men had the right to vote despite income, property, religion, or other qualifications besides race. This was super important for Jackson to get elected because before this act, only land-owning white men would be able to vote therefore keeping politics only in the hands of the rich. This means that Jackson created his own, new political party since a whole new class could vote, he made the Democratic Party that supported individual liberty. Andrew Jackson had strong political views that saw America as a huge nation and in his mind, the only way to do that was to enforce the Native American Removal Act of 1830 and the removal of the national bank in 1833.

Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States, marked the beginning of a new age in American political history due to his presidency. Jackson brought in political victories the United States by defeating the British in the War of 1812, which caused the people to see him as a "hero". Along with this, he created more opportunities and protection for the native Americans by enforcing the 1830 Removal Act, also leading to westward expansion. Another victory that brought change to America due to Jackson was Universal White Male Suffrage in 1837. This change allowed all white adult men to vote, which created a much more involved population. Overall, President Jackson provided many changes and improvements that marked a new beginning in the United States of America.

Prior to Jackson’s election in 1829, America had a profound, universal sense of national purpose and unity, called the era of good feelings. When serving, Jackson was known as the “people’s president”, and was part of the Democratic-Republican party. His antifederalist policies were disliked by many and led to the composition of the Whig party, which believed in a strong federal government. Due to the emergence of two very different political parties, America became very divided, which led to a lot of division and ultimately sectionalism. Also, in 1828, universal white male suffrage became a thing. Because of this, politicians now had to campaign to the common man to get elected.

Prior to Andrew Jackson’s election and the start of the government, Elitism was a major aspect that contributed to the outcome of elections and the choice of the faceless, rich, white male representatives for our government. After Andrew Jackson came into the picture as president, the common man was now more valued and had a chance to get to know who they were voting for, for the first time, leading to the Universal White Male Suffrage that spread throughout the country. The actions of Jackson caused the unwashed masses to now feel apart of the election process by interacting with the representatives which has never been done before, setting a new standard for representatives when it comes to campaigning and how they make a name for themselves among the public.

Jackson largely changed the political landscape during his presidency. He did this by introducing new acts and establishments. These include the universal white male suffrage which influences voting rights in America. The Indian removal act which impacted the checks in balance in governance. The act of vetoing the bill to recharter national banks in which he established pet banks, and finally, in almost opposition to his reign, the whig party is founded because of him.

In 1776, the United States of America declared independence from Britain and formed their own system of government, which, among its other branches, was headed by an elected president. From 1797 until 1829, that president was almost exclusively elected by white male landowners, meaning that the first six presidents, much like many of their supporters, were the same, supporting and enacting policies that benefited rich white men above all. By the election of 1828, however, things had changed and almost all white men could vote. This led to the election of Andrew Jackson, a president who stood up and fought for the common man through his policies and values.

Prior to Andrew Jackson’s election, universal white male suffrage allowed many more Americans to vote and gave more power to the common man, also Andrew Jackson promised to protect and strengthen the union and expand the US. Considering both of these events it is no surprise that Jackson was elected president. Jackson's election did lead to a new political age because he created multiple parties other than the democratic republicans, and he created the need for politicians to campaign to the common people.
