The answer, of course, is nobody, which has prompted me to make a conscious deliberate decision... I vacation in increments. In colors" (Zusak 5). In part 9, the color of black spreads across the sky as the pilot slowly draws his last breath: "Above me, the sky eclipsed -- just a last moment of darkness -- and I swear I could see a black signature in the shape of the swastika" (Zusak 491).
