This might be one of the more intense festival traditions that I've ever heard of. I imagine that if you live in Spain, the idea of the Bull Run probably seems easier to digest, although I would like to hear what local Spanish citizens think of it, and especially people that have taken part in the run itself. It appears that despite the obvious risk, lots of people still willingly participate. I also wonder if there are people that have participated multiple years or if it's a one-and-done kind of thing. Personally, I can't see myself doing something like this, but I am curious about the motivation surrounding the individual participants.

My family has some Spanish heritage so I'm a little familiar with the festival and this specific tradition, and no matter how crazy it is or who gets hurt, it's on my bucket list to visit Spain in early July and participate in this. I don't know why and I'm almost certain I'll get hurt but this seems so awesome and exciting especially because of the religious and social history behind it. Im pretty sure I can outrun a bull but I bet I'd be one of the people who trips on something then just gets destroyed, but I'm with it. Also the idea of being able to take part in the greater San Fermin festival to me seems like a once in a lifetime experience.

This is such an interesting tradition, but it's just not one I'm crazy about. I always thought it was pretty fascinating, but after reading Hemingway's "The Sun Also Rises" I feel like I've heard about it ad nauseum. Additionally, I have concerns about the animal rights aspect of it. There's a spin off of this tradition in New Orleans, which seems much more my speed. In the NOLA Running of the Bulls, participants are chased through the streets of the French Quarter by bat-wielding roller derby girls. Seems like a great way to get the thrill and excitement with a significantly lower chance of getting gored. Plus, no animals are harmed for entertainment! :)

I have heard of this tradition before and have always thought it was so crazy, yet so interesting. I don't think I would ever have the courage to be able to participate in this kind of event, nonetheless I find it so fascinating to learn about. I find it amazing that they also have basically bull experts there to help minimize the amount of people that get hurt.

I have heard of that tradition, and watched many videos of them on youtube. On the other hand i don't think I would have the courage to jump in front of an angry bull like that. That tradition is no different from the clowns at the Rodeos. good lord those guys also have nerves of steel to be doing a job like that.

I have actually never heard of this tradition. It’s bizarre, and seems unnecessary. I say that respectfully, to each their own, but I would never participate in anything like this. I’m especially concerned for the bulls. They are being aggravated and stressed for pure entertainment, that’s not right.

I’ve heard of this tradition and have watched this video before and it’s definitely interesting how they set up this event running with the bulls, essentially having them being chased for 825 meters. Personally I would be on the side watching and admiring the tradition as something like this doesn’t seem safe for someone like me.

I've heard of bull fighting but not this particular event/tradition. I think it's important to the people of Pamplona because its their way of celebrating their culture and is a testament to their strength if they make it out alright. However, I don't like the dangerous aspect of it and the probability that some of those animals don't want to be there.
