         <description><![CDATA[<div>North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces launched a series of attacks on Hue Saigon and other targets in South Vietnam. The Tet offensive surprised the U.S. and North Korean forces which led to killings. February 18 it was announced that the U.S. had the highest casualty toll of the Vietnam war. Which was with 543 Americans killed.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>While Mr. King was in Memphis giving a sermon supporting striking sanitation workers in the city. The following evening he was assassinated on his hotel balcony. Once people got the news riots tended to appear. Leading to people finding out who the killer was. Which led to the people going on a manhunt to find James Earl Ray. His capture ended in London where he was convicted and died in prison in 1998.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On the night of the California primary, which he won putting himself in a secure spot of the democratic presidential nomination. As he was leaving the Ambassador hotel after addressing a large crowd of supporters he was shot. He was shot by a man named Sirhan Sirhan which just so happened to be an immigrant. As time went by he ended up confessing.  Simply, because he felt betrayed by the senator's support for Israel during the 6 day war in 1967. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>RFK's assassination left the vice president Humphrey as the most likely nominee. When the democratic convention opened thousands of students, antiwar activists, and other people poured into Chicago. Which led to a violent police response called out by Mayor Richard Daley. It was a very bloody day while clashes happened between police and demonstrators. The convention ended in Humphrey's nomination as the head of the democratic party.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The year ended on a very positive note. As the three astronauts Jim Lovell, Bill Anders, and Frank Borman where the first humans aboard Apollo 8 to orbit the moon. Apollo 8 circled the moon 10 times that Christmas Eve. Which scored the latest U.S. achievement in its Space race with the Soviet Union. </div>]]></description>
