By the age of 24 he became a brigadier general. Throughout his life Napoleon only lost 7/60 battles. The French Revolution left the country chaotic, and Napoleon successfully defended it despite all of that. Later on, Napoleon staged a bloodless military coup and became the first consul. He enacted the Napoleonic Code, which was a set of laws influenced by Enlightenment principles. This code brought structure to France and gave its people more freedom and rights. His code has influenced many governments since then, including Americas. * Huge militaristic failure in Russia. Napoleon did not prepare his troops for the winter in Russia and ended up killing almost 99% of the men that came with him due to hypothermia and starvation.

* Defeat at the Battle of Waterloo, 1815 : Napoleon made many tactical errors and was defeated by the second coalition formed against him ( Britain, Prussia, Austria, and Russia)

* Was abdicated and exiled from France twice

His nemesis Duke of Wellington described him as being worth 40,000 men.

* October 1795, Napoleon stopped a revolt in Paris that threatened to overthrow the National Convention. Saving the French Republic again.

* Napoleon was an unmatched military tactician, during the Italy campaign (1796-97) he defeated the Austrian and Sardinian armies even though his troops were poorly equipped and outnumbered. The Austrians lost 14,000 men to France's 5,000.

* During the French Revolution, Napoleon defeated England, Prussia, Austria and Europe all at the same time. 

* Napoleon was a very good ruler. He followed many enlightened principles and gave the French people much more rights and freedom when he enacted the 2,000 plus articles in the Napoleonic code.
