This adds meaning to the understanding of the story and shows how Mrs.Moreno tries her hardest to make Yollie happy but it sometimes doesn't work out like in my example when she made candy apples with molasses instead of caramel and they did not work out as she thought.

A simile that I found in the story "Mother and Daughter", is that it describes Yollie very skinny and fragile and when it described her as fragile I don't think it meant like fragile like it can break easily, I think it meant that she is fragile in her feelings and she can get upset right away and her feelings can get hurt easily. When the simile describe her skinny and fragile the simile was "Yollie was slender as a tulip." That describes that Yollie is very skinny and fragile because I know from my background knowledge that slender also means the word skinny and I know that a tulip is very skinny and fragile so I think it describe Yollie as skinny and fragile. I think it meant Yollie was fragile like in feelings because from what I know so far Yollie is not fragile like breaking things because she hasn't broken anything yet and what I know so far is that her feelings have gotten hurt for example the black dress it was ruined and she got her feelings hurt and started to cry so that is why I think that this simile described that Yollie was skinny and fragile.
