In the Bluest eye Pecolas parents, Cholly and Pauline have a highly dysfunctional and abusive relationship. When they fight it gets dangerous to be around. "how do you do that, how do you get someone to love you" (32). Pecola does not understand the true concept of love because of what she is around at home. Her home environment never allows her to witness what a loving couple experience.

The morning fight was one of the worst for the two characters and continued to escalate "You going to get your drunk self out of that bed and get me some coal or not" (41). Pecola witnessed the whole situation which is something that definitely left her scarred for life. Morrison describes Cholly and Paulines harsh relationship "paralleled only by their lovemaking" which the children in the house also experience because they witness many sexual encounters. Similar to how Cholly was plagued by domestic aggression, Pecola is left with a similar situation because her parents continually fight and then make love which leaves her with a distorted view on true love and it causes her to over question future encounters.

“He picked at me” “he picked at you where” “You mean like the Soaphead church” (175)

The soaphead Church incorporated by Morrison allows for the children to feed their curiosities and confusion to an older man who takes advantage of their vulnerabilities. Soaphead justifies his disgusting actions by claiming that he is on the same level as God. “You have to understand that, lord you said, suffer little children to come unto me, and harm them not” (181). He uses this to justify his own problematic views about life and his manipulative spirit. A crucial aspect of Soapheads incorporation in the story is that is is strategically put in by Morrison to show how domestic aggression which leaves a child feeling alone, makes a child desperate to seek what they see as help.

"They were usually manageable but lewd; his patronage of little girls smacked of innocence and was associated in his mind with cleanliness" (173).

Soaphead viewed young girls as easy to control, but alongside this view, he viewed young girls as apparatus of his sexual desire. Soaphead takes advantage of the children's sexual misinformation and uses it to his advantage. He knows that this is wrong on many levels but allows himself to continue because of the level he views himself on. Specifically for Pecola, Soapwood allows for characters to seek beauty and purity through his false promises, and considering what Pecola went through with the bullying Soapwood allowed for Pecola to seek change she always hoped for.

"I don't want to be ruined like the Maginot line" (101)

This reflects that the children believe that a woman's purity is lost when she engages in sexual contact for the first time. This is in fact not true but the teachings in society have stemmed down generations and continued to get strayed to make it seem like women are objects.

"Am I going to die, no you wont die, it just means you can have a baby" (28)

Heavy stigma around having kids and the current young generation is misinformed around their own bodies and how they change. This stigma comes from questions around sex and the children not being informed about their bodies and what changes they go through.

“When Cholly was four days old, his mother wrapped him in two blankets and one newspaper and placed him on a junk heap by the railroad” (132)

“He was nowhere around when you were born” (133).

Cholly is the broken Child who gets affected by what Morrison was truly talking about. Samson was Cholly's birth father but he was nowhere around when Cholly was born. This is unfortunate for Cholly because he did not have a father figure when he was young and instead had to live with not even his mother but instead his Great aunt Jimmy who saved his life. As a result of Chollys parents getting into conflict and his father and mother abandoning him. He grows up feeling like he does not deserve to be loved and having no concept of what that really looks like. He never receives nurturing or comfort from the one person who was supposed to give him this unconditionally: His mother. This then stemmed down to Pecola because of Chollys mistreatment of Pauline

In the Bluest eye Morrison's incorporation of specific aspects allow for the demonstration of misrepresentation of love. Morrison does this by incorporating Pauline and Cholly and their flawed relationship. Morrisons Addition of Soaphead emphasizes the Oversexualization around children by the way he manipulates them. Due to the flawed relationships and children not being taught properly about their body, it leads to children having flawed views on sex. All aspects of Morrions Bluest eye stem from a broken child who was mistreated at a young age and never truly understood what love was. And because of mistreatment, they passed it down to younger generations and created a flawed community. Morrison uses specific aspects throughout the story like Soaphead, and the relationship of Pauline and Cholly demonstrates how domestic aggression can cause a child to fall apart.
