We discuss the global carbon cycle and the world's oceans as part of our units. I also teach in a diverse community (near Los Angeles) so I will often bring in scientists from the local community that represent various cultures and nationalities. I also have various questioning and discussion techniques in my class that allow students to discover varied viewpoints representing my students' diverse backgrounds. I have my students read case studies regarding topics from a variety of environments and geographical locations.
