One of Troy's character traits is strictness. He is strict with his son by not letting him play sports. A quote from the movie is "You supposed to keep up with your chores and hold that job down at the A&P" (Wilson 50). This explains how Troy feels about Cory playing sports. He wants his son to have a job and do chores instead of football.

Troy sees himself as a hardworking person. He sees himself that way because he works very hard and makes money for his whole family.

Rose would agree that Troy is hardworking with money but not with other things such as their family. She would think that because of some of his actions. Those actions include how he won't let his son Cory do what he wants to, and he also cheated on Rose and had another kid.

I chose a bar for the art connection because Troy would go to the bar often. He would go to the bar with his friend Bono for drinks. Troy had met a girl at the bar and ended up cheating on Rose with her.

I chose that song because it was about someone cheating on their spouse. That fits this play/movie because Troy had cheated on his wife Rose with a girl he met at a bar and he wasn't sorry for what he did.

One of The overall themes is even though a father and son relationship can be rocky they still care for one another. Troy's relationship with his father was rocky. His father never showed him much love growing up. Due to his relationship with his father, it influenced him as a father. It influenced him because he didn't know how to show his love for his sons. His relationship with Lyons was very distant since Troy was not around for him when he was growing up. Troy's relationship with Cory is different than his relationship with Lyons. It is different because He was around for him when he was growing up. Their relationship was rocky and had its ups and downs. A quote that proves this is " I got sense enough not to let my boy get hurt..."(Wilson 56). This quote shows that he truly cares for Cory and what he does.
