They live in villages and are educated at school. They had other ethnic groups resenting the power Igbo had and tried to break away in 1967. One million Igbo fled and war broke out. The Igbo people were Christian and their houses are on stilts. They wear colorful wraps and also have masked dancers for festivals, ceremonies, and rituals. Their traditional hat is a cap and one of their main resources is oil. They sell their oils to make money, but farming used to be their main activity.
