This was a video of our first practice of our group. This was my experience of dancing so I was pretty nervous coming into it but looking back I think I've improved a lot.

This was one of our later practices when we were finished with the first hip-hop dance. This dance also included some formation changes that we had to learn and get used to but it was worth it.

Culturama Light Plot

This was out light plot rehearsal where the leaders would decide on the lighting for our dances. Our full performance was three dances long, with one hip-hip dances, one contemporary dance, and one cultural dance. Considering how much bigger the auditorium was compared to our dance studio we were used to, it felt much less crowded.

This was what all of our practice had built up to. Thanks to the amazing dance leaders it turned out to be an amazing show and I think a lot of people in the audience enjoyed it.

This was a photo from our final performance during the final moments. All in all, it was an amazing experience even though I was quite hesitant about it at first. The dance leaders of Japan really pulled through and made an unforgettable experience for me and I do not regret it at all.

Repair Kopitiam

This is us in the middle of repairing of a fan. I've been in Repair Kopitiam since the 9th Grade and though at first I didn't really know much about repairing, I've learnt a lot.

Repair Kopitiam Sunday Trip

This was during our trip to one of Repair Kopitiams monthly gatherings where the community bring their appliances and Repair Kopitiam repairs them. Being able to interact with the local community is something unique to Repair Kopitiam and is very nice in general.

This is our poster for advertising Repair Kopitiam and our February donation drive. I had previously made a draft of this but thankfully we have an ex-graphic design student on our team and he was able to help me out and improve on its design.

As the head of communications in Repair Kopitiam it is my job to get in contact with staff around the school to seek assistance about donation drives, advertising, etc. This is one of the many emails I have done while on the team.

After Culturama, I decided to continue with dancing and participate in the Dance Showcase 2024 Dances as well. I ended up signing up for two seperate groups and this is a video of our first practice in my first group.

This is a video of the first practice of the second dance group I was in. Though the two groups do different dances, they are both in a more hip-hop style so they aren't too different so the skills can easily be transferred.

This is a photo on the final performance day with our group. Though it was way more difficult compared to Culturama since I participated in two groups and each individual dance was much harder than Culturama's dance, I practiced and pushed through and had a great dancing experience once again.

This image shows the rhythms our samba band had to play as part of our first song that we did. I was on the surdo drum and it was my first time playing any sort of drum instrument.

This is the audio for our finished first song. Though it was hard for me at first since there were so many different rhythms and breaks I had to keep track if, I managed to get the hang of it with time.

This is the rhythms for our second song. I was on the repinique this time which was much harder for me since the rhythms I had to play were much more complex. Making sure I was on time with my band mates was also very challenging.

This is an image of the performance we did at the Wavelengths concert, where we played both songs. Though it is quite nervous to play in front of a crowd at first one we got into it it became a really fun experience since I'm playing with my friends.

This is a video of our dance for my first group when we had finalized the dance. On this day we actually had been all practicing together for a couple hours and it was a really fun experience and the practicing really paid off.

CAS Reflection 1

For my first section of CAS, I thought that I was pretty good at exploring new things that I had never done before because in previous grades I had never really tried to do anything out of my comfort zone but coming into Grade 11 I thought I was able to do things I had never done before such as culturama which was a whole new experience for me. Additionally, I felt that CAS was able to help me work on my collaboration and teamwork since that was necessary in my service since we all rely on each other in the service to do well.

Throughout Grade 11, I felt I was able to continue with my goal of reaching out my comfort zone and trying new things as I continued with Dance Showcase after Culturama as well as joining run club. With my service, I was also able to work on my leadership roles as I was the head of Communications for my services and I had to communicate and organize events and communicate the logistics that were ongoing with the service.

After finally finishing up CAS in the first half of Grade 12, I felt proud of what I had achieved and what I had done throughout the CAS experience. I had achieved things I never had thought I'd be doing before CAS started such as performing my Piano ITP piece in a recital in front of lots of parents. All in all, I felt that CAS was a very successful experience for me and I learnt a lot about myself and about how I can and have developed myself as a person.

Run Club 3K Time Trial

This is a picture of us doing a 3KM time trial where the goal is to do a 3KM as fast as possible. Being able to control your speed and know how fast you can go to still have energy is really important because completely tiring yourself out in the first KM is quite bad for the rest of the run. I managed to do my first time trial in around 19 minutes or so and I will try to do better for the following time trials.

Run Club First Session

Coming into my first session for Run Club, I didn't really know what to expect. The club takes place at the Bedok Reservoir close to school and we all had to be there by 6:30 am. I wasn't used to waking up early so it was tough getting up for sure. The running itself was quite tough for me as well. We did a warm up of 1 KM loop and continued to do loops until the Club was over and it was time to head to school. This first time I only managed to do 3 loops in addition to the warm up but I hope I'll be able to do more later.

Though doing Run Club was extremely tiring as I had to wake up much earlier than I was used to and force myself to get out of bed and get ready as well as the actual running itself, it was still very nice to be with friends in the early morning as it is very peaceful. I learned that to be good at running you need to be mentally strong as persevering even when your body feels like shutting down is really important. I managed to do the 3KM time trial in around 17 minutes which is a lot better than my first one which I am proud of. Overall, Run Club was a great experience that I learned a lot from.
