•   Women migrated, cleared fields, and raised crops.

•  Families were large with grandparents usually living with families.
•  They owned slaves
•  The people with more wealth and money lived in brick houses.

•  In the spring and summer, women grew herbs for culinary and medicinal purposes.
•  Women harvested, dried, and stored fruits and vegetables in the late summer and fall. However, some foods were pickled in vinegar and spices.
•  Women cared for and raised the children throughout the year and taught them how to perform simple tasks.
•  Everyday chores for women included feeding poultry, collecting eggs, tending garden, making/mending clothing, doing laundry, and preparing meals.
•  During the Revolutionary War, women grew flax and used a wheel to turn the fibers into thread, which was sent to weavers for clothing.
•  Other ways women helped prepare for winter was by making soap and candles.

•  Wealthier or upper middling families would hire a tutor to come live and teach their son.
•   Kids would do chores/work from a very young age.
•  Girls would learn simple skills such as, housekeeping, laundry, cooking, and more from their mothers.
•  If you were older, you worked for master tradesmen as apprentices for 5-7 years and they would do very important work, received education, and learned the skills of trade.
•  The work and education that the boys and girls got were very different.
•  The girls learned how to use herbs that could treat illnesses. 
•   As children got older, they were given more chores following the footsteps of their parents.

•  Women helped with cooking, laundry, gardening, child rearing and other chores around the house.
•   Some masters split up families.
•  When the had free time they spent this time doing their own household chores or tending to their garden.
•  Sometimes they opened their own stores on the plantation.
•  The life of a slave were harsh and cruel and their religious beliefs reminded them of their will to live. 
•  They usually lived in small cabins far from the masters house.
•   When there were only a few slaves on the plantation it was difficult for the slaves to find spouses
