What: 
The Age of Enlightenment was a period where knowledge and ideas was shared and encouraged so that people could pursue happiness and what it means to live a good life. 

The Central ideas were individual liberty and religious tolerance, this was in opposition to the absolute monarchy. 

When: 1800s 

Where: France and Europe. 

Why: New ways of thinking and looking at the world were being explored. 
The three main thought systems that gave way to the enlightenment were: 
- The focus on humanism
- The Protestant Reformation

What: The French Revolution was a period of radical political and societal change in France. It is now considered to be an event that is fundamental to the structure of liberal democracy. It inspired campaigns for the abolition of slavery and universal suffrage.  The values and institutions it created dominate French politics today. 

Outcomes were: 
- Abolition of the constitutional monarchy.
- Proclamation of France as a Republic Nation. 
- Execution of King Louis XVI.
- Establishment of the French Consulate. 


When:  1789-1799

Where: France

What: It was a time where major technological advancements were made and allowed people to produce things more easily (predominantly fabric) and made some people very rich and other poor people were able to work for a wage. 

When: mid 18th century

Where: Great Britain and Europe. 

Why: Before the industrial revolution it was a feudal system where poor people remained poor.
