Science brings us new technology and inventions improving life for many. It is important for citizens to be scientifically literate because if they weren't everyday life would be a challenge. For example, if it is lightning outside and someone doesn't understand how lightning works and where is safe to hide they could be in serious danger.

The exploration process that students partake in like observing and asking questions is something that children will never stop doing but they should be away of why they are doing it. One issue that citizens are struggling to grasp is the fact that our climate is changing rapidly. This topic had been up for debate for years and it is something that many citizens have not taken seriously. Will this issue get better overtime? Hopefully children realize that they are the future of the planet and they are the start of the change, but without teaching children about science and the importance that it hold in our world, the future of our planet will be in question. Other issues in the world that relate to science could get better, but like I said that only holds true if we teach our children about the importance of science.

I think that there are many issues citizens have regarding science. One is that people either do or don’t believe in science and they are willing to argue over different topics regardless of their being proof or not, also people want to blame having science or not for many things. During this experience the child may ask many questions such as what is a hurricane?, why do hurricanes happen?, or how did we know the hurricane was coming? It is important that children recognize that people participate in scientific inquiry to investigate these questions, experiment, and revise their findings. Science is also important for children to take part in as it enhances critical thinking, problem-solving skills, experimentation, and exploration. All of these things are crucial for a child's cognitive development.
