Hakkari is one of the most mountainous provinces in Turkey. %87 percent of this province is surrounded by mountains. Because of its geographical location, the income in Hakkari is based on generally farming rather than agriculture.
In history, the first name of this province is known as ‘Çölmerik’. The are is geographically available for some kind of lifestyle. Because of this situation, the history of these lands dates back to paleolithic ages and many civilizations have gone through on this territory. Meds, Persians, Selevoks, Abbasis, Selçuklu, Mongolians and Ottomans have lived on these lands.
