The term "PR" stands for Personal Record. This is a common term used by many people and some other cultures and widely used within the running community. Running a PR means that we set a record for a racing event, a long run, or even something as simple as getting ready for school as fast as we can. The word PR is used in a variety of ways within the Running subculture. http://running.competitor.com/2014/03/training/patience-progress-prs-three-tenets-running-success_97745

In Cross Country and distance events in Track and Field, most athletes will shake each other's hands and say good luck before racing. Even though the athletes will be battling on the course or track, we are extremely friendly before and after the events. Most of the fastest people I have raced against in distance races are really cool people who make a ton a small talk right before racing.

https://prezi.com/pssq2e3c-_sj/running-subculture/

Therefore, those that calculate numbers and paces while they are in the middle of a race will have a much easier time racing the way they want to race.
https://prezi.com/pssq2e3c-_sj/running-subculture/

For Runners and most athletes, it is much easier to run with a group than it is by yourself. Group running is very common among runners because this enables runners to push themselves and everybody around them. It is much easier let yourself down and not run than it is to let the team down and not run with the team.

https://www.runnersworld.com/running-tips/running-on-the-track

Many runners will try their best to start their runs and workouts slower so that they are able to run faster by the end of the run.
http://running.competitor.com/2014/03/training/patience-progress-prs-three-tenets-running-success_97745

There are many runners who get excited for rainy or cloudy weather. To many, overcast and maybe a little snow or run is the perfect weather to run in because of the cooler temperature. When it is blistering hot out runners may not be as excited to run in the weather because runner's bodies heat up when they run and get hot enough as it is.

http://strengthrunning.com/2014/07/weirdest-things-runners-do/

Symbolic Interaction

Symbolic interaction is the meaning of how we interact with each other within our own groups. This is a huge part of the running community because runners interact with each other a lot and use each other to become better or worse runners. The norm in running is to push each other to all get better and run with them to push them. Breaking the norm may be to act superior to other people if they are a more enduring or faster runner which may cause a more awkward setting between the people breaking the norm.
