A great activity you can do at home that has phonics involved is print out papers that have a letter from the alphabet, then in the letter there are different animals and items, your child must color the pictures that correspond with the letter.

At home phonemic awareness you can work with your children on nursery rhymes and eventually they will remember them which will show development with phonemic awareness.

With kindergarten students it is important to read with them constantly. One great activity to do with students is echo reading. Echo reading is when you choose a book that is on level with students but not too advanced for the students that may be slower with reading or are not on level quite yet. Read out loud to the students and every sentence have them repeat it back.

Being able to support students regardless of any differences is the main goal for all educators and parents. When school starts everyone comes in without teachers knowledge of how they learn, what works and may not work, what are strengths and weaknesses, etc. But we learn all of the students needs and provide to our best abilities. Supporting them can look like getting fidget chairs, moving them where they need to be, create alternative assignments, providing material that is at their level of understanding, etc. Some of these assignments can be just different pictures, words used in sentences or completely different but still has the same objective. If a child has sight or hearing issues, moving them where it is best is supporting them, if they need a 504 or IEP, we start the process of them with the correct people needed to be involved. The fidgets can be leg bands so the child can move quietly, standing desks, swivel chairs, and much more.
