King Louis XVI and his family attempt to flee France but are caught and returned to Paris.

“Louis XVI was born on August 23, 1754”(Mark).Louis XVI was the last king of France before the monarchy was abolished during the French Revolution. Upon the passing of his grandfather, Louis XV, he took the kingdom in 1774 at the age of 20. Although Louis XVI was intelligent and had a strong sense of devotion to his country, he lacked the charm and political savvy to successfully negotiate the turbulent political environment of his day. He made an effort to modernize France, but his reign was characterized by social instability, political turbulence, and economic misery.

The French Revolution finally brought a sad end to Louis XVI's era. He and his wife, Queen Marie Antoinette, were despised by the French people, who held them responsible for their nation's social and economic problems. The monarchy was overthrown in 1792, and Louis XVI was convicted of high treason. The Bourbon monarchy came to an end when Charles was guillotined on January 21, 1793, at the age of 38, opening the way for Napoleon Bonaparte's ascent.

Mark, Harrison W. “Luis XVI De Francia.” Enciclopedia De La Historia Del Mundo, Https://Www.worldhistory.org#Organization, 6 Sept. 2022, https://www.worldhistory.org/trans/es/1-20340/luis-xvi-de-francia/.

Maximilien Robespierre, the leader of the Committee of Public Safety and the architect of the Reign of Terror, is executed.

“He was born on May 6, 1758 in Arras.”(Comstock)
French politician and lawyer Maximilien Robespierre was a key figure in the French Revolution. Robespierre, a prominent member of the Jacobin Club, a radical political organization that developed during the revolution, was born in Arras, France, in 1758. He played a crucial role in the overthrow of the French monarchy and the founding of the First French Republic as a fervent supporter of democratic change.

The Reign of Terror, a period of brutal persecution that lasted from 1793 to 1794, was when Robespierre's power peaked. He oversaw the execution of thousands of persons seen as revolutionaries as a member of the Committee of Public Safety. His strategies, meanwhile, were disputed and finally brought him to ruin. His political career and the Reign of Terror came to an end in 1794 when he was captured and killed without a trial. Robespierre is recognized as a significant character in the French Revolution and a symbol of the difficult and sometimes bloody battle for democracy and social fairness, despite the controversy surrounding his legacy.
Mark, Harrison W. “Maximilien Robespierre.” Enciclopedia De La Historia Del Mundo, Https://Www.worldhistory.org#Organization, 11 Jan. 2023, https://www.worldhistory.org/trans/es/1-20784/maximilien-robespierre/.

Napoleon Bonaparte stages a coup against the Directory and establishes himself as First Consul, effectively ending the French Revolution.

“Napoleon was born on the 15th of August, 1769.”(Harvey). Bonaparte was a French military and political leader who rose to prominence during the French Revolution and went on to become Emperor of France. Born in Corsica in 1769, he was educated in France and showed early promise as a military commander, distinguishing himself in several battles during the Revolutionary Wars. In 1799, he led a coup d'état that overthrew the government and established the Consulate, with himself as First Consul. He then embarked on a series of military campaigns that extended French influence across much of Europe, earning him a reputation as one of history's greatest military commanders.

Despite his military successes, Napoleon's rule was characterized by authoritarianism and repression, as he consolidated power and expanded his empire through conquest. His military campaigns ultimately ended in defeat, and he was exiled to the island of Saint Helena in the South Atlantic, where he died in 1821 at the age of 51. Despite his controversial legacy, Napoleon is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in European history, having left an indelible mark on politics, military strategy, and culture.

https://www.history.com/topics/european-history/napoleon

https://www.britannica.com/biography/Napoleon-I
