Even though it looks peaceful it makes me feel a little anxious and scared. I feel this way because of how empty it is and there’s no people, and also the lighting being a little dark in the far back. Then also the fact that it’s a picture where you’re surrounded by nothing but trees.

Purpose - To chill the audience. Device- He uses money and family to persuade Appa into selling the store. He does this by telling Appa to think of Jung's future, or to think about his retirement plan with the money.
Purpose- Mr. Lee's purpose in saying these things is to convince Appa to sell his convenience store.

2. Effect- We know that he is an immigrant and English isn't his first language
Device- The description of Appa's character says that he has a thick Korean accent
Purpose- The purpose of the accent is to show how there would be a disconnect between him and his kids because they grew up Canadian and speaking English naturally, and there would be a language barrier between the two generations.

2) Mr. Lee's offer
Effect - Mr. Lee is trying to convince Appa to sell the convenience store to him.
Device - Mr. Lee brings up Appa's son and his age to get him to sell the store. He also persuades him with money and retirement
Purpose - This makes Appa realize that he doesn't really need the store anymore. Purpose - I think the purpose of this scene is to show how they don’t really understand each other. It shows that Appa’s priorities are a dynasty and money, while Janet wants to do what she chooses and makes her fulfilled in life. Janet & Appa's relationship 
Effect- I feel tense when Appa and Janet argue. This is due to how Appa can be really outspoken with what he says and how Janet is always in a constant battle trying to also prove her perspective.
Device- Shown when they are argueing in the store, and when they both speak their mind no matter who is there. Both seem to be stubborn so the fighting doesn't end.
Purpose- This shows the reality of two different generations. Both perspectives have different vieews on everything, and i think the author wants us to acknowledge our differences. This is so they we can try to build a stronger and better relationship with people that have different thoughts. 

2.)Umma and Appa Accent
Effect-I get a feeling of confusion and stress. This can be because Appa and Umma were not born in the states, and we can tell the english is not their first language.
Device- Having a thick accent can be hard because the grammar of Appa and Umma can be hard to disaipher. 
Purpose- This is to show readers what having immigrant parents are like. Then also to show the difficulity on how Appa//Umma phrases sentences.

3.) Mr. Lee's offer 
Effect-The feeling i get is shocked. This is due to how Appa is really dedicated to the store even if someone is trying to take it from him.
Devise- This is from the way they talk about how the convienience store will die down once walmart opens and Appa fights his idea with his words to help back up his arguement.
Purpose- To show what its like to be really determined and love what you do. To show us when being passionate about something you are willing to keep it with you as long as you can.
