Students tend to use software they have not paid for. With the younger generation being very tech savvy, they have figured out ways to get certain texts for free as well as programs and answers to assignments. Students today definitely lack the ability to follow the 6th ethical computing commandment.

Students easily disregard the 6th ethical commandment because it makes their work easier. Being able to find a worksheet online with all of the answers, typically from online teacher resources that they somehow gain access to, they do not see a reason to actually do the work. Why go out of the way to do work when they can just copy answers. I think the pandemic aided in the lack of motivation in current students because it allowed students to have extra time for work, the rules were loosened, and it was easy to get answers from other students.

Many schools these days provide students with computers, and if that is the case the school can place restrictions on certain websites, and even block others, and teachers can use tools so while the students are inside the classroom they cannot use the web to access answers. I have had teachers who could shut down or block tabs students were on inside their classrooms in order to keep students from playing games or trying to find cheat codes.
